Restaurant/city recommendation

The Olde Pink House in Savannah, GA

Gunshow in Atlanta, GA

Honestly, there are so many great restaurants out there, it's hard to list only a couple. Looking forward to hearing other recommendations. Great thread @whitewave!

You are right! You all might get sick of hearing about New Orleans
Restuarants.

Here is one in the boondocks... literally in the middle of nowhere, louisiana:

Worth the drive

HI:

So many countries......So many restaurants.....

Hawksworth, Vancouver.

Best $200.00 lunch ever! Great ambiance! Would love to go back...

You asked for recommendations. Best isn't determined by cost.

It was amazing. Can't get fresher fish and the location is hard to beat. I loved it. It cracked us up for the price, but we had been cruising the islands and had rented a car, so I was day drinking, etc. Ran the bill up...

Love this thread! I'll have to type up a list of my favorites and add it later :lickout:

Cafe Fish, Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Scotland

Best seafood restaurant ever, the shellfish comes out of the bay you look at through the windows.

Back with some recs. These are just the places that my husband and I have visited and enjoyed. Not all are restaurants. Some are casual 'snacking' opportunities. As you can tell, I like to EAT. :)

==ASIA PACIFIC==

Bangkok
- Supanniga Eating Room (Sukhumvit, near Thong Lor 6??)- tasty and casual Northern Thai (Isaan) cuisine with a little modern Western twist.

Hong Kong
- Aberdeen St Social - love their happy hour and food. Their outdoor terrace is nice too. Run by a Michelin-starred British chef.
- Australian Dairy Co - greasy spoon type of cafe. Generations of locals grew up on this stuff. Best scrambled eggs and toast ever!
- Blue Butcher - amazing aged beef and other meats. They stock the hard-to-find Rubia Galega aged beef from Spain which is the best steak I have tasted. Their bone marrow toast is also extremely tasty.
- Cafe 103, Ritz Carlton - high tea on the 103/F of the Ritz Carlton with fantastic views of Victoria Harbour. Don't go if you have vertigo, it is quite high up!
- Caprice. 2 Michelin star French restaurant. This is my husband and my favorite place for fine French food. (Amber is also good, also has 2 Michelin stars but more fusion/modern)
- Shanghai Fraternity Association restaurant - private members only club but if you can get in, the food is some of the best Shanghainese food you'll ever try. Their tea smoked eggs and soup dumplings are divine.

Shanghai
- M on the Bund. Amazing view of the Bund and wonderful modern Australian cuisine.

Seoul
- Balwoo Gongyan - temple food. (Buddhist vegetarian). Very spiritual experience.

Tokyo
- Baird Taproom (Harajuku) - great yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and Japanese influenced craft beer
- Hiroki (Shimokitazawa) - casual style okonomiyaki in the trendy neighborhood of Shimokita.
- Kanda-Tamagoken (Ikebukuro) - hole in the wall place for office workers but has the most fluffy and tasty egg omelette rice!
- Kichitora ramen (Shibuya) - delicious chicken ramen just off the main street in Shibuya
- Almost every single 'depa-chika' (basement food hall in department store) - can just wander and graze the most amazing snacks & food.

==New Zealand==

Auckland
- Golden Dawn speakeasy (Ponsonby) - very good cocktails. Sadly, it's closing at the end of March 2018 (it was originally supposed to be a pop-up for 3 months but has lasted 7 years) but go now if you can.

Havelock (South Island, near Marlborough)
- The Mussel Pot. Fantastic fresh seafood near the seafood farms so the seafood is really 'fresh off the boat'! :D Plump and juicy mussels the size of your hand!!!!!! It was one of the best seafood meals in my life and was very reasonably priced. I would love to go back there.

==EUROPE/MIDEAST==
Abu Dhabi
-
Hakkasan (Emirates Palace). Interesting modern Chinese with British influences. I thought it was quite tasty and the service was good.

Brussels
- Moeder Lambic & Cantillon - traditional Belgian sour beer (gueuze). I recommend Cantillon as you can wander around the old brewery.

Budapest
- Cafe Gerbeaud - amazing patisserie!

Copenhagen
- Øl & Brød (Vesterbro) - local sustainable produce, with focus on smorrebrod (Danish open-faced sandwiches)
- LêLê Street Kitchen (Osterbro) - pretty decent Vietnamese and nice for people-watching

London
- Jerusalem Tavern (Clerkenwell) - local ale in an atmospheric rickety wooden pub dating from 1720s. Food isn't bad either. The pub itself is amazing. When you walk in you have to be careful of bumping your head on the wooden rafters. It feels like walking back in time.
- Borough Market - we just like to browse and nibble from the various stalls and cafes there.

==NORTH AMERICA==

Madison WI
- The Old Fashioned. Great cocktails and really good solid American food with local ingredients. If you go on market day, definitely check out the Dane County Farmers Market on the same street. It is one of the biggest farmers markets in the US I believe - at least, it seems bigger than the Union Square Greenmarket in NYC!

Milwaukee, WI
- Corazon - good Mexican food, with lovely outdoor terrace (during the summer it's fantastic to sit out there with a cold drink)
- Blue's Egg - classic American breakfast but done right. Expect a wait.
- Barnacle Bud's - part of the charm is the hidden/secret location right by the water. Food is standard fried seafood etc but the ambience is wonderful. I love sitting out on the deck with a beer on a hot summer day.

Marquette, MI
- Donckers - they have a soda fountain!! plus good handmade chocolate. Obama visited here a while back.
- Vierling - nice local produce from Lake Superior & nearby area.

New York
- Eileen's Cheesecake - good cheesecake. Nostalgia factor (for me!)
- Russ & Daughters - great to pop by for a bagel & lox with cream cheese. Their smoked fish is the best.
- Smorgasburg in Brooklyn is a weekly open air food market which I enjoyed a lot.

Portland, OR
- Salt & Straw. Amazing ice cream.

Vancouver, Canada
- Alibi Room - changing roster of local produce and wide but well-curated selection of craft beer from the Pacific Northwest.
- Earnest Ice Cream- really good ice cream.

Impressive list, @mochiko42 . Need to try those!!!

When in Beijing we were impressed by nuage. Very decent Vietnamese.

I went to Miku several months ago with my cousin and thought the food was good too! :)

Oh fun! I love Bangkok!

I also recommend that you try a rooftop terrace bar or restaurant while you're there. It's the most amazing experience to sit on the top of a skyscraper and see the view. I like Vertigo restaurant/Moon Bar on the 61/f of the Banyan Tree, it feels like you're almost touching the clouds. Food was also good, drinks were even better.

PS for Thai massage, if you don't want to do it in your hotel, Health Land is very popular. There are various locations all over Bangkok and are clean and reasonably priced (and have english/chinese/Japanese etc speaking staff)
