Hi all. I''ve been on this site many times to browse through existing discussions and it has been a life saver for me. Thanks a big bunch to the knowledgeable ones who take time to post.

Anyways, I purchased my engagement ring through Mark at EngagementRingsDirect.com a few months ago and now I am engaged! I''ve been meaning to post this for sometime now, so I''ll do it now: I wanted to say how great it was to have worked with him. He was very patient with me and worked with me to make sure that I got the best diamond for my budget.

The problem I have is the ring that I bought is a little too big for my fiancee (it''s a platinum setting if it makes any difference). I live in the LA area, and I was wondering if any of you could recommend a jeweler that could resize the ring? Maybe talk a little about what happens when one gets a ring resized? i''ve heard some bad stories, and would welcome any recommendations to a trusted jeweler. Or if you are a jeweler in the LA area and is a regular on this forum, that would be all the better. Thank you...

"recomend jewler to resize platinum ring in XX area in LA"

it is not a big deal :-)

I''m not an expert but from my experience: if the ring has very intricate design, or is full eternity style, or needs to be sized more than one size up or down, it might be difficult. If it is a solitaire style or plain band and only needs to be sized a little, no problem. Lots of people''s rings fit looser in the winter and tighter in the summer b/c of finger swelling with the heat. So if it fit fine during the summer and is a little big now, she should take that into account b/c it could be too tight next summer if she sizes it now.

I never knew about that. thanks.

Yeah, her ring is a solitaire design. Pretty basic. So it shouldn''t be too difficult.

It''s amazing how much some people swell. Might happen to us all, but some are worse than others. My rings literally can fall off in winter and in summer are actually painful to wear, make red marks, are impossible to remove, and make my fingers look like sausages stuffed through a ring.

After eight years of flip-flopping back and forth as to whether to resize, I finally did it last week: up 1/2 a size. I''ll have to be vigilant and careful in the winter, but now I will be able to more comfortable wear my rings in heat and humidity.

Just some food for thought.

If it was an intricate design, i''d ship it back to the place you bought it from so they assume responsibility. Since it''s just a simple solitaire, here are some of my recommendations: peter norman in brentwood, 23rd street jewelers in santamonica, sarah leonard in westwood. These jewelry stores are not super cheap, but I would trust them.

thanks. will do some research on them.
