For about three years I have had a 1ct princess cut E color SI2 Clarity ( two feathers ) diamond solitaire ring in 14k white gold that I pair with a 14k white gold plain band. My diamond has came loose and I don't know if it's as much as it having standard prongs or just an unlucky happening. But this summer I will be getting to reset it with a setting budget of 2k.
First off I am thinking about having it set in yellow gold since my other diamond pieces are yellow gold ext. engagement ring and matching band I got married with, 1ct Debeers three stone ring, 1ct diamond princess studs.
Second is that I do have some white gold and Sterling Silver right hand rings that I do like to wear from time to time. But here where I'm from a 1ct size stone is questionable as being real since the average carat size stone is .50 to .75ct. and it seems like most ladies think when they see white metal that it's silver and FAKE. I could die because even my silver jewelry pieces are of nice quality using real stones but I don't want no one questioning my diamond that my Husband worked so hard to purchase for me.
Third should I have the stone V prong instead of another four prong type setting? I love the size of my diamond and think it's perfect but I don't want to do a V prong and it make it look smaller? Or would it make it look bigger? And also would the V prong be more sturdy? On the metal I might just go with which ever setting that catches my eye I like. My jeweler has done and told me she can do or get any setting in any metal I would like but that's just going to make it that much harder for me.
I've lurked here forever and now that it's getting closer to time for me to reset my diamond and I had these questions I thought it would be the perfect time to start my Price Scope journey and learn about beautiful jewelry.
