Hi Beacon,

Your new setting looks great. The halo makes the stone appear so much bigger. Now it looks like a 4 carat on your finger. It''s worth the expense and the stress of waiting.

Beacon, its breathtaking and exquisite.

I went searching for your original post to see if it was a Leon ?

Funny that I should come across your post. I had kept these pictures on my computer and have been going back to look at them quite a bit lately.....

Sorry the file is so big. I can''t remember where I found these pictures or whose work it is??????

But your beautiful ring reminded somewhat of these pictures. I must have been looking at them when I had my pear stone, which is long gone...............

Gorgeous reset! I''m so glad that it was worth the wait!

It is beautiful!!

But we need additional details! Who did the setting? What are the specs on the stone?

Your reset is divine, Beacon. It looks substantial, yet delicate. Beautiful!

(I''m curious about stats on the stone and setting, too!)

gorgeous!!! Agreed that it marries substantial with delicate. A fine balance indeed! Congrats

This reset was originally going to be a three stone and I was at a jeweler trying to source the side stones when I saw a similar setting that I fell in love with. I made an emotional decision on the spot to set my ring this way.

I really worked hard to get the proportions the way I thought would be nice and many PSers were so helpful as I asked tons of questions about melee size and shank proportion.

The stats on this stone are: 2.57ct, D color, SI1, SB fluor. The setting is a custom job that started at a local Northern California jeweler and was sent to an LA manufacturer that the jeweler has a relationship with. The melee is about 85pts of F-G, VS stones.

The stone sits very low on my finger, the culet clears my finger by about 1.5mm, (my estimate). It is much, much lower than when I had it in the 6 prong Tiffany style setting. The shanks and halo are about 1.5mm each.

The setting is platinum and when I look at the pave under the loop, each little stone has four tiny prongs holding it in. Maybe this is a "fishtail" pave? From the side view it has that fishtail appearance too.

I am thrilled with it and so is my husband. I feel I have my dream ring!!

It is perfection!

It is substantial yet so elegant and fine.

Beacon, a "D" color - you don''t get any better than that! I''m so happy
