Reset 6 prong to bezel??

Fiancé and I picked out a gorgeous ring but I’ve come to realise it’s just not me. I thought I wanted a six prong solitaire but it’s just too typical for my style. Is it possible to have it reset into a bezel setting with a thin band? I mean I already have the diamond and the metal so couldn’t they just melt it down and reset it in the new setting?

You can trade in the old setting for a bezel setting with your jeweler. Or you can sell your old setting yourself via LT or DB.

Most jewelers don't make their own settings. They buy stock settings so melting down your existing one to remake into a bezel is most likely not an option. The jeweler may give you scrap value credit for your existing setting or you can try selling it on your own. Then you'd have buy the bezel setting and pay for setting the diamond.
