Requesting oval help please!

After months of searching on his own for the perfect cushion (my original request), my BF has decided to open the ring-search up for my input. When I first began thinking about e-rings, I liked the idea of a cushion because of its soft, rounded shape, and also because it was more unique than a traditional RB... though I'd only seen a couple in person at a jewelry store. But now that I have some input into the process, I've seriously begun considering ovals as well... because of that same soft, rounded shape and unique quality. I love the idea of a simple platinum or WG setting with 2 small RB sidestones, and oval center.

Soooo... anyone want to help me find some stones to look at online??

Fatafelice is kindly helping with cushions on the LIW thread, so I'm mostly looking for help with ovals if possible.

I'm Pricescope-educated enough by now to know my way around the websites of several of the good online places. But I don't know if there are certain vendors that tend to work more with ovals, or where to get started, really. My BF's total budget is $8k (Yay! I really had no idea what to expect), which would include the setting and the stone. My initial thoughts on specs:

Clarity -- not overly hung up on this, as long as it is at least in the SI-range and eye-clean.
Color -- preferably G or above, though I wouldn't necessarily object to H or even I, as long as it was a well-cut stone.
Size -- hopefully in the 1.25 - 1.6 range. I have long fingers, and love how the larger ovals look on my hand.

Any input or suggestions would be very welcome!

diamond by lauren has some nice looking ovals, from what I can see. they''re all lower colors, though.

Julie, thanks so much for the link... that is actually one website I hadn''t been to yet. I like the little commentary they do on each of the individual diamonds... so much nicer than just the plain old specs. I can definitely fathom going lower in color if there were flourescence to balance it out, though maybe not as low as K... do they usually carry only the lower-color diamonds like that?

DBL specializes in fancy colors and fancy shapes. You could ask them to find something for you in a higher color.

They tend to carry lower colors and fancy yellows, but I have seen some higher colored stones on their site as well from time to time. It never hurts to ask!

I really am leaning more towards ovals at this point... but I had planned on emailing Mark T. at ERD when I was also considering cushions. Does anyone know if he has been known to deal with ovals as well? Any other particular vendors that do?
