Hello! I had a horrible experience at a B&M late last year, where I bought a custom ring with a borderline (41.8 degree pavilion angle) XXX GIA diamond. Luckily, I discovered PS just in time to return the diamond and purchase a new one with much better specs online. The original B&M unmounted my diamond but I had a different local jeweler mount the new one (whose work I wasn't particularly impressed with either).

Anyway, fast-forward only 4 months later, and one of the melee diamonds in my halo has fallen out. What is the best way to replace the diamond? My ring had a one-year warranty but I'm pretty sure that's cancelled out by the fact that I had a different jeweler mount the new center diamond. Not to mention, I'm not exactly on the best terms with the old B&M, nor do I particularly trust them anymore. I wonder if it's even worth spending more on this ring or if we should just design a new one. I'm pretty sure the quality of the craftsmanship of the ring is not great. Do you think it's worth asking the original jeweler if they will replace the melee for free? Or would it be best to find a new jeweler locally to replace melee? Does anyone have suggestions for a place in Chicago and approximations on what it should cost? Thanks!
