Hi,
I am very new to all this so please forgive me. I just recently got engaged (!) and I love the design of my ring. It is a 3 stone ring in white gold. I have a diamond ring, yellow gold, which I hardly ever wear but which had a gorgeous diamond on it. Since the diamonds on my engagement ring aren''t very big, I had the idea of replacing the center stone on my engagement ring with the diamond from the other ring. That way, I could get some use out of the bigger stone, which right now just sits in my drawer, and add some extra bling to my engagement ring lol. But, is this even possible to do since the center stone is smaller and the bigger stone will probably not fit into it. And in your opinions, will the ring look "weird" since the center stone will be significantly larger than the two sidestones?
Thanks!

You may need another setting to do it but I say go for it, if your FI is okay with it. Alot of three stone rings have smaller stones flanking a larger stone. You can do a search here on PS for some examples.
Welcome, by the way. You''ll fit right in. Shrinkage has set in already.

Thanks :) I am trying to go through the many posts here. Wow, so many beautiful rings

Keep us posted on your process. There are alot of well priced sites that have settings if yours won't accomidate a larger stone. There are all price ranges and stones sizes here. And everyone here is more than helpful.

Hahaha, shrinkage already.

Ask if they can just change the prongs. Since we haven''t seen your ring, not sure if that''s possible. If they can simply replace the prong, it''s a simple matter of swapping them in.

Having a bigger center stone is no big deal. In fact, I''d say that''s normal. It''d be weird to see an engagement ring where the center stone isn''t noticeably bigger than the side ones. Otherwise, it looks like an anniversary band than an e-ring.

Oh good to know. Yes my center stone is a little larger than the side stones but not too much and although I love it, it bothers me that the center stone doesn''t pop out more. Thank you for the suggestion but if I can''t switch out the diamonds, I don''t think I would get a new settings (that means getting a whole new ring right? I really AM clueless) because I think my FI would get his feelings hurt.
I will go to a jeweler and get some opinions tomorrow, and keep this updated. I tried to take some pictures of each ring to post but they turned out so bad! Tried with and without flash...How do you guys take such clear amazing pictures?

Well can''t help with the pics. I''m a complete and utter moron.

Maybe, you could just replace the head where the center stone sits. Ask your jeweler if this is an option. That way you can keep the original setting.

Great idea, thanks!
