Hello All.
I 'picked' a 'vintage steel 3-person glider from the neighbors garbage about 20 yrs ago. Finally, after all this time we finally have a deck to enjoy it!

I reached out to a local sandblasting company. They will dismantle, sandblast, powder coat paint, and reassemble our glider using the colors of our choice. These are the colors we like the best.

Now it's your turn to help us decide on the color(s) you think look best for our vintage glider project.

Thank you for your help!!

love it! how fun to have that on your deck. I'm kind of partial to red, but I guess I'd also consider the color of my house. I also like the dark blue.

I didn't know what a glider was :lol-2:
I was thinking surly it would be too heavy and would plummet to the bottom of the cliff you were about to leap off :lol-2:

I love the teal but also the tourquise and the dark blue too

Love the dark blue! Can’t wait to see what you decide!

These were so much fun!
I like the aqua color.

Aqua matches our new outdoor carpets and deck Umbrella . We replaced the ugly grass green indoor/ outdoor carpet that was so old it could be torn apart with my fingers!!!

We moved in Feb 2021 and are slowly making the place our own. Due to COVID we've had a heck of a time finding contractors to paint the inside of our house. Half of the house was done (poorly) last May, but we had to fire the contractor. As such, the rest of the house has been in a holding pattern ever since.

Another contractor was supposed to start last fall, that changed to after Christmas then that fell through. Another contractor was supposed to start last week, but they are over booked -- ended up stiffing us. Now we're trying to find someone else to paint!!

At least our deck is coming together. Last year I found a vintage bamboo sofa and two chairs on Craigslist. It's actually real bamboo that looks like it's from the 1940s... The cushions could use new fabric but decided to wait until next year.

I like the turquoise. It'll mostly be hidden by the cushions (?) so if there is Sunbrella-type fabric that you love, I would be guided by that, too. Or would this not have cushions?

Karl:
That's my favorite, we'll probably choose this color combo.

I've hung on to her for ages, it's been a long time coming and I can't wait to see her looking all shiny and new!!! 1652327866220.gif

I have to take pics of what she looks like now. Peeling paint and all...!!

I also have a couple of 1960s steel lawn chairs (Craigslist) that I'd like to reno as well. Hopefully next year...

LilAlex:
Probably won't use a seat cushion. After spiffing her up why hide her under cushions?? But will have some throw pillows.

Whatever colors I choose they'll have to coordinate with the area rugs, patio umbrella, and replacement cushions for the vintage bamboo sofa & chairs.

I love these! My MIL has one that we fight over every time we visit. I mean it, we fight like children, somebody is coming home feeling crushed at the end. It's always fun.
I love the jewel tone deep blue example as well :praise:

Although in need of new clothes she looks cared for
she is out of the rain and the weather just patently waiting for her turn

I love gliders - you have a real beauty here! I love the aqua and the mint green.

Oh those are so lovely! I absolutely remember the one my grandparents had! How will you paint or will you go the powder coating route?

I'll tell ya, we gotta do it soon, everytime the wind blows she's flaking paint every where...

On second thought, if we wait long enough, she won't need sandblasting!!! Yoo-hoo, big $$$ saver :lol-2: ;)2

Is the poorl old girl old enough to worry about lead paint ?

Love the dark blue, it seems to modernize it a bit. I love gliders. What a great find.

I like the dark blue the best. Love this project!

My grandparents had a glider on their front porch; way before decks were even thought of (now I'm showing my age ;)2).

For those of you Down Under folks, the sugar glider...

Is that a boy? LOL, only a perv, err I mean animal lover, like me would notice what appears to be a cute fuzzy wuzzy scrotum.

I like the dark blue the best. Love this project!

I'm leaning towards aqua, teal, mint green, or even pale yellow. That's because my glider has to blend with any color schemes over the years.

To get my glider refurbed we have to pay a few guys to get it off our our roof-top deck, and drive an hour up and back to drop it off, and do this again in reverse to get it home!! This excludes the $$$ to refurbish...

Probably the aqua or teal!!! :cool2: :kiss2: :geek2:

Although i love the bright ones the best those very pale colours do also look very mid century
When i was a wee kiddy the woodern benches at the beach were painted those colours (they would have been painted in the '60's,) and i think my grandparents had a park bench painted in stripes in those colours too

Hi Daisy:
I agree, the colors I'm partial to have an older vibe. As indicated, I'd like a color that will stand the test of time, as far as updated accessories, upholstery, or area rugs go.

The more I look at it the more I favor a cross between the aqua and teal green.

There are still old kitchens painted those colours still not updated from origonal here in our town - we saw them while house hunting
I would prefer one of those to the gross grey late '90's early kit set that ours was updated to years ago

But anyhow - back on topic
in my head we are painting the inside of our house some of your colours (not the red or peach)

HI:

The Tiffany color, "of course".

cheers--Sharon

Awesome!!!! How old is your house? Even if it's not historical, I've read articles on how to add historical charm to any house no matter the age.

For instance, I found an antique fireplace surround and mantle on craigslist a while back. I thought it'd be perfect for a faux fireplace in a bedroom.
