Hi all :wavey: ,

I recently reset my original BGD plat Grace solitaire e-ring into a 3 stone. I would like to pair my new ring with a plain band, and since my old solitaire is not being used, I was thinking about having the head removed and just using that. Any thoughts as to how easy it would be to have this done? Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me!

I couldn't say for sure in your case, but I have a pave solitaire and wanted to have the head removed and an additional melee placed to use as my wedding band when my current reset project is completed and a local jeweler told me that there wouldn't be a problem. :))

Thanks Christina! I'm in NYC, so I was hoping to use IDJ for this job if I decide to go ahead with it. Do you have any ideas about how much this might cost? If I just buy a plain band, I would get a $100 1.5mm 14k WG band, so if removing the head is more than that I'd just buy a new band.

Why not keep the setting as is, find a gorgeous coloured stone to pop in it, and get a plain band as well? Seems so much nicer to get an extra ring than take apart the BGD grace! more bling = :appl:

Thanks Enerchi, I hadn't thought of that! I like the idea of more bling :Up_to_something: but I'm not really a colored stone girl. I would have sold the setting, but my husband is sentimental and wants to keep it.

oh... you never know... you may just see something and 'by accident', happen to fall in love with a trinket or two on the coloured stones forum....accidentally order a stone from one of the amazing cutters... and find it just might accidentally fit your setting ... who knew?!?!

Not that that's ever happened to anyone else before.... :Up_to_something: (just sayin'! "Never say never"!!)

I've taken the white gold 6 prong head off a yellow gold ring and soddered it to a 3 stone semimount. My jeweler in NYC did a great job, my jeweler only charged me $10 for the soddering, then polish was $10, then rhodium and final polish after setting was like $25. Looked great, and I probably saved about another $25 that way too.
