I just realized there is a jewelry auction (first state) at the Hyatt on Sunday. Viewing is from 11am to 1pm :devil:

Well bidding starts at one so you could safely vacate the premises before then and just go during the viewing period to try everything on. :halo:

If you are interested in having a look at the catalogue the auction house is First State Auctions, you can look it up online. :)) I haven't had a chance to look yet so I'm not too sure what is on offer this time.
 
Lot 36 for me - I want to get a good look at that emerald in person. :lickout:

I was a bit excited by the auction pieces, but then I checked the past sales and there didn't seem to be any bargains there. I am sure less than retail but nothing really cheap. It would be interesting to go to one. Has anyone been before?
 
I've been to one before. Prices are fairly expensive (15% buyers premium on top) and some of the quality is bad, but I did see a 25 carat diamond necklace go for $18k because no one was bidding for it so I guess it just depends on who is bidding and for what.

It is fun to go and try on all the sparklies before hand though :D

I thought the same thing, past sales look very high. But maybe they put those prices up to entice sellers to use their services.
 
I will be there! Sadly with no sparklies to show as I am still waiting for mine....but will love looking at everyone else's!!

The prongs on my centre stone are loose. :errrr:

I took it to Ross this morning and he tightened the prongs for me so the stone isn't spinning but he said I need to take it back in during the week so they can see to it properly. So glad I got it checked!
