Some may remember I posted an image of an interesting green fluorescent diamond some time back.

We recently received a parcel of rough diamonds from the same mine.

We subsequently had them cut and these are a few of the fluorescing stones from the parcel.

Again the green and blue ones are not milky, the yellow one however is.

The image is just a quick shot, will try take a better one when time allows

Very interesting picuture! You mentioned that you have received a previous green flourescent stone from that mine...do you believe there is a correlation? hmmm...I need to go do some research on what causes flourescence

Cooool!

Thanks for sharing that very interesting (and pretty) picture.

LadyLuvsLuxury, blue fluorescence is caused by trace levels of boron. I believe that nitrogen causes yellow fluorescence. But I don''t know what causes the green. Anyone know?

Wow -- great shot! I''m going to have to go buy a black light so that I can have fun with flourescence!

Hey Johan, may we ask what mine these are coming from?

Hi Richard,
For commercial considerations perhaps it would not be prudent post the Mine name. (Would be happy PM you though with details)

I can tell you that the mine is located in northern Namibia.

I would think the green is some form of semi-radioactive micro inclusion.

great picture of fluorescence,

the reaction of a diamond to ultraviolet light is very variable from what i understand.
some diamonds are inert and some fluoresce.
those that fluoresce generally show blue or violet, sometimes green or yellow, under lw uv with weaker colours under sw uv.

any chance of some more of those pics???????????????????
