Possible dilemma? I have purchased my ering overseas (not the dilemma!

). But, now without a ''relationship'' with a respected, trusted vendor here Down Under, how do I go about getting my ering checked, cleaned, polished etc? Obviously I can''t expect a B&M to do it for free as I havn''t purchased anything from there, but do can I purchase or pay for this service? I am considering wbands from Tiffs, Precious Metals, etc locally? Would it be an idea to enquire about this service here? I would really love to get my wband from WF too though? Any suggestions? Experiences?

Thanks again!

ETA - I purchased an Ultrasonic cleaner and a set of loupes, but I really wouldn''t know damage, loose prongs if I did see it I think? Is an US cleaner enough, or would I still need to have regular polishes? Band is 18k yellow gold.

You need to have your prongs checked about every 6 months, and a professional cleaning at least twice a year, some do it more, like 3 or 4. And a polish whenever you feel it needs it.

Just go in to the jeweler and ask them to please do these things. Many will without a charge, even if you didn''t purchase the rings there. Or they will charge a nominal fee.

It would be nice if you could could get the w band from the place you will be taking the rings to for service. That''s a nice way to establish a relationship with them. And that''s what I did.

The majority of jewelers with any sense are happy to do the checking and cleaning for free. It’s pretty easy work and, if they discover that there is something requiring repair they get the first shot at earning your repair business. Lastly, the cleaning process usually takes a few minutes to do and they get to spend that time trying to sell you something else while the technician does their work. By all means, look at what they have. This will not be the last piece of jewelry you’re likely to want. Give ‘em a stab at the next piece. They may turn out to be just the right place for a future occasion.

Thanks for that guys! Sounds like a reasonable suggestion, I thought that may have been the case.

I don''t wear other jewellery, so it''s not like a have many shopping opportunities. However, I have been thinking of Tiffs (not for the name, just like one or two rings) or Precious Metals for my wedding band. I am sure something could be arranged with Precious Metals, however I don''t know if Tiffs will clean and inspect a Tiff Replica?!
