But I am curious... What did RD say about this stone? Was he pleased with the result?

Hi Giangi,

Actually I just spoke with him this morning and he was pleased with the stone, said it was very nice. Additionally the appraisal (not for insurance) was above the asking price, but right in line with it so that made me feel even more comfortable. It IS pretty, isn't it! lol

YES, that's a pretty stone for sure!

At this point what can I say? GO FOR IT!

Go for it. It's hard to judge Regent stones by their numbers or data...because I would normally never go for a VG VG round brilliant stone. But for a Regent, sometimes the polish/symm takes a hit. In this instance because the Bscope results are soo top notch and the IdealScope images is hot, this looks like a great performing stone! My Regent is EX EX but I feel like from what I have seen around that is an anamaly..hehee. If RD likes it and with those images and information, I would say go for it!

Price should be somewhat similar to a H&A round brilliant, so maybe about $5k or similar? Maybe more like $5500. Hard to say. Regents are expensive for fancies, but they are sooo pretty.

I have often wondered how they appraise because they aren't a super well known cut of stone yet, you say that this one came out higher than the asking price? Good to know.

Let us know what you decide!

Hi I am in the middle of a cruise...and we are having rought seas tonight...

SD I sent you an e-mail am am sure the prices is appropriate...and if Roc Doc said it was a nice stone...you are good to go...

Will chat more later

Aaaah...Diane and Mara...those key people I was counting on! Ladies, I sincerely appreciate you guys takin' a bit of time out to give a gent a hand!! I posed the question to RD this morning...and yes, he thought it was a nice stone...very nice I think were closer to exact words! he's provided me with oodles of reports, photos, and scans...and everything I've seen is perfectly in line with the GOG posting...an additional tribute to Jonathan's honesty and candor with GOG! Price-wise I'm very happy, initial estimates were a higher than the "going rate" for this stone...but regardless it just again confirms that GOG is very much up front with the specifics I was looking at.

But you're job's not done yet my helpers! lol Seriously though, this thing's essentially a done deal as far as I'm concerned! I'm concentrating on Richard Landi's settings and have narrowed it down to 8 right now, I'm awaiting some prices and then again I'll go to the forum to get a bit of input. I mention this because although I know what I'm looking for, I know it's been brought up how the setting should ideally show off the stone. You guys could potentially help me narrow the choices down further.

Anyway, thank you both for your continued help...it does mean a lot! And a hearty round of thanks to Pricescope and all it's members...I only hope there are other forums out there as helpful when it comes time for me to buy a new car! haha

Keep that input comin'!!!

Coongratulations on choosing this diamond, I think it is a lot better than the first one you were looking at, in fact I've been looking at the one you've chosen for quite a while, determined that if I was buying a stone I'd buy that one.
It's great to know that if I don't get to have it, it goes to someone from pricescope.

Be sure to post pics when you get it set.
