reflector inclusion on VS2

Hey all, well i got my diamond in from WF. i went over to an ind appraiser to look at the diamond. the inclusion is near the center of the stone and seems to be reflecting at various angles. Since its a VS2, i figure its not something to freak out about. However, the appraiser said she would rate it more of an SI 1 or 2 b/c of the inclusion however she could see how it was rated a VS2......so im kind of worrying about it now. WF said it was ok and their appraiser they used said it was a VS2....so I guess is this something i should be worried about. all else i like the stone.

edit: Your appraiser said she could see why AGS gave it a VS2. It means she has a slightly different opinion. That's cool. If it bothers you, return it.

I wouldn't worry too much, some inclusions do reflect, and sometimes you can get a conflicting opinion from a third party. Kevin, if you like the stone now you have seen it, I wouldn't worry, especially after all the work and research you put into finding this diamond. I take it the inclusion isn't visible, or is hard to see with the naked eye?

I agree it''s just a difference of opinion. Just because your appraiser said one thing it'' doesn''t necessarily mean that WF or their appraiser is wrong. Grading is subjective and can vary.

Try not to get hung up on the clarity grade. If it looks good to you, and you are happy with that inclusion then forget it and keep the stone. However, if it is likely to continue to bother you, or the inclusion is distracting, return the stone to WF and they can help you find another similar stone.

Diamonds are like anything else that you buy to look at -- if you don''t like it, return it.

Who cares what it''s graded, if you aren''t happy make a change. I''m sure WF used a great lab to grade the stone so I wouldn''t worry about the accuracy of their report -- but if the stone isn''t 100% what you like I''m sure they have one that will be.

Make sure you''re happy. Settling leads to regret.

well i honestly got a great deal on it and it looks awesome imho. i just didnt know if it was a rarity to have an inclusion that reflects or if it was a huge deal. seems like its not to big of a deal. looking at the diamond i cant see any inclusions unless its under the microscope if could the see the blackmarks of its reflection in certain spots. I figure a GIA VS2 isn''t going to be noticeable anyways.

Some inclusions do reflect, we see this here at times with some of the diamonds, so I don''t think you need to worry, especially with VS2.
