Hi all,
I am a newbie here but have been reading a lot!
Thank you to everyone for all your posts... I have learnt so much :-)

FI proposed 6 months ago with my grandmothers ring... and I love it! But it was old, didn't fit and wouldn't have stood the test of time.
So in my crazy excited state of mind, I took it to a jewellers and asked him to create a simple solitaire from it.
Not very happy with my result unfortunately.

There is a lot of platinum, so it is very chunky (I like the weight but have stompy fingers)!
When trying wedding bands I noticed it didn't sit flush. I also hope to get an eternity band at some point so would need that to sit flush also.
.5 carat F I2 (Not great specs but the carbon gives it character and it is so sentimental)

Has anyone redesigned their ring into a wedfit style?

How my ring sits with a wedding/eternity band:

Ok I just googled what "wedfit" is and I'm still not sure. Is it just meaing that you want your bands to sit flush together? If so then lots of people on PS have done that. I would check out some of the vendors on PS and look at their solitare settings to see if you like any of them and see which ones allow for a flush fit. There are many options.

Thank you....
Yes I want them to sit flush else they take up too much room on my finger! :-)
As a newbie can I ask what u mean by PS?
Sorry x

PS stands for Pricescope.

Is there any way you could work with your jeweler and exchange this setting for one that sits flush with a band?

Hi

Because of the sentimental value I really want to redesign the ring I have, including using the platinum.
My jeweller said in the beginning he can make it any way I like I just need to decide what that is! :-)
So if anyone has flush fit images I would live to see them :-) Help me choose!

Thanks!!

WHY IS MY COMPUTER EATING MY REPLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Argh sorry but this is like the 3rd or 4th time that PS has decided to make my replies disappear or my internet goes down and it is making me a little crazy

Ok so what I did write before it went out in internet land is that I had a white gold wedding band that I wanted melted down and reformed into a new one. I went to over a dozen jewelers and no one would do it for me. They would melt it down- no problem there. But when they melt it down it seems it is put into a vat of other metal so when they would have made me my new band it wouldn't have been from my old material....perhaps .0001% of it might have been. So if you want a new solitare made exactly out of your first ring I'm not sure if that is possible because I asked just about everyone. I would double check with your jeweler on this. Does he realize you want to use the exact same material or are you ok with the fact that when it is melted you are really not getting the same ring material to begin with.

I also wanted to add if I had to pick a solitare setting for a RB I would go with a classic tiffany style solitare. It is simple, elegant and timeless. I would go back to your jeweler and see what solitares he offers that will sit flush. However, I'll be honest and say if you didn't like his work the first time I wouldn't go back a second time. Plus I know I could get a tiffany style solitare online through a vendor for a good price.
