Rhodonite, but hardness is only 5.5-6 and it has perfect cleavage. However I have seen some crystals from Brazil with a wonderful saturated red colour, e.g. this mineral specimen on Mindat:
Superb lustrous gemmy cherry red prismatic terminated undamaged crystals of rhodonite to 1.4 cm in length are forming this 2.3 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm matrix-less cluster. Shows nicely all around 360 degrees. The quality is excellent for this species. Ref: The Mineralogical Record 39:125-130...
