In order to "recycle" a setting, how close in size does the stone need to be?
Specifically, thinking of re-using a white-gold 4-prong basket earring setting, originally held .71 stone, how much smaller could it hold?

Just thought someone on here might have looked into this... thanks.

whats the size of the stone in mm?

That''s a good question "mmte9"! I was wondering the same thing: I wanted to put a colored gemstone measuring 6.5mm into a setting that used to hold a stone measuring 6.1mm ?

yours would probably fit. Prongs have more a wiggle room than others. Take it to a jeweler and they will confirm.
