so if the links are to be approx 1'' to 1 1/4'' in length is the thinner one too thin?

good job Val, ever thought of ditching economics?
I wouldn''t know to put it otherwise. Pave or bead set by any other name is also done on curved surfaces - even the usual ring shank around here is not straight.Date: 11/24/2005 10:19:01 AM

... normally when the diamonds are set into the channel and bead set, the top of the piece is flat. meaning if you were to look at the link from a side view the table of the diamonds is flush with edge of the channel. The piece i fell in love with was more rounded...............meaning that tops of the diamonds protruded a bit more so that the top of the link was rounded and more 3 dimensional than flat.
I would think so... if you ask specifically for it it can''t hurt...Date: 11/24/2005 3:23:42 PM

given the curved design of the oval links of my ''model'' would it appear that way aotomatically?
is there a risk to that or any downside........Date: 11/24/2005 3:51:52 PM

Yeah... but they so small and flush with the metal... and between milgrain edges (right?). I doubt that would happen. Maybe if someone would bend a paved piece the diamonds on the resulting edge will come up (and out), but as is, they''ll be set level with the already shaped metal. It takes a big push to chip them on the table. The edges will be protected.Date: 11/24/2005 9:41:42 PM

Windowshopper,
Is this close to what you are looking for?
It''s platinum/diamond designed by Paul Morelli. The length of the bracelet is 6 3/4 inches. The craftsmanship is impeccable. The clasp is hidden in one of the vertical links.
well no............i want ovals but claudia''s is actually all-over prong set it would appear.........i want just one row of bead set diamonds forming the ovalsDate: 11/24/2005 11:11:03 PM

Description:
''Art Deco Platinum and Diamond Cocktail Bracelet
Circa 1930
The flexible mount set with two hundred and forty round old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 6.25 carats.
Length: 7-1/2 in (19.1 cm)
Width: 1/2 in (1.25 cm)''
I think they mean single cut - which IMO, in that size (average 2.3 pts) is better than full cut. At most a couple of the tiny diamonds do not appear to ''catch light'' as much - which tells me they are fine cut. A new piece will not have the patina, would have full cut melee of predictable grades and ... oval links only of course. I would not jump to conclusions that a new piece will be substantially better made - if this one has some terrible flaws, I can''t make them out. Another thing I can''t figure out in the picture is the clasp - hopefully it is something contained in the design, not a clashing finding of sorts.
If the 5k high estimate is better or worse that only you know at this point![]()
Lastly, does the size fit?
This is pretty much all that comes to mind.
There are nice things in the rest of the auction to![]()
I just see some white patches in the picture - the description of 'old European cut' melee made me wonder because it is not usual.Date: 11/25/2005 10:12:59 PM
