Bought an e-ring in Chatswood Sydney, having problems ( see previous posts for details) and are thinking of getting a refund and buying diamonds and having them made into a similar ring to the one we bought.

Any recommendations???

I bought my diamond (1.01 asscher) from Jogia Diamonds which is in Perth. They were really great, and I got a great diamond for a great price. It is in the process of being set at the moment, by a jeweller that was recommended to me by Jogia and the appraiser they sent the diamond to. Have a look on their website, it is really comprehensive, hope that helps.

Hi yes I''ve been on there site a number of times, originally I wanted the "princess nita" style ring. But now we bought another ring from another store, and I loved the style of that ring, but having problems.. so might get a refund and get a ring made exactly to be like that one.
But Jogia Diamonds doesn''t sell one similar.

Hi Dimity,

I just read your other thread.

We purchased my engagement ring 2 years ago here in Melbourne so I can't really offer you any recommendation on who to go through in Sydney.

I could probably help you further if you tell me what your goals are - If you are after that J coloured diamond in I2 and possibly a poor / average cut.. then you can just go to any store and get it really. I just did a search on diamond exchange (not that I endorse them) and found J colored SIs around the 4-5k mark (This doesnt include ring) and may include not so solid certification. Preferably I'd stick to GIA and AGL certs.

If you are after a quality diamond below the 1ct mark then I'd probably look at buying from the US.

Even with the exchange rate, you are essentially paying 1.5x the amount, but surprisingly it ends up cheaper than going to an overpriced B&M.

I myself have purchased a .5ct G VS1 pendant from whiteflash just recently (AUD currency had lost 10c during that transation heehee) and I have just ordered .66ctw diamond earrings from whiteflash. They are the ACA branded diamonds which give a brilliant sparkle.

Still ended up WAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper than buying the same quality diamond in Australia. (which are far and few between)

Buying a diamond in Australia is unfortunately is a compromise of trade offs, since most of the B&M stores are rubbish and the good ones are VERY overpriced.

To summarise, I think you should get a refund and perhaps read the forums here and decide what you like best. Quality or Size?

Don't rush into it, it's something you have to be happy with and wear for life.

MissDimity,

I replied in your other thread in regards to a wholesaler. In regards to a jeweller, I used JasonRee to set my cushion but I know that the diamondspecialist''s have their own personal jeweller that does custom settings for the diamonds you buy from them. I had a good look at the settings they had when I was there and they were exceptional quality... I decided to go with JasonRee because I had seen a design that I liked advertised by him and went there to get the same setting slightly modified to my preference. If you are interested, his website is www.jasonree.com.au

Best of luck!

My goals were in terms of diamond:

Size: no less than 1 ct,
Shape:round brilliant
Colour:no less than J colour ( as I visually could only see the colour difference if I held a D side to side with a J, and at 30cm apart I couldn''t see the difference)
Clarity:no less than an eye clean S12
Cut: goodto excellent

so when we saw this ring with shoulder channel set diamonds ( RBC H VS2-SI2) and with a J 1 carat SI2 ( which was eye clean) for $4500 AUD reduced from $7990, we thought it was a good buy, till it turned out to be a TBL 1 ct SI2.

Cindy thanks for your referrals in this thread and in others.

Will consider them if we decided to get a refund.

Currently we will wait and see if the jeweler produces a nice J S12 1 ct diamond ( eye clean) with accompanying full certificate because it was a nice setting, and exactly what I wanted and for an awesome price ($4500- can rarely get a J sI2 1 carat diamond for that price loose).

So will see what he comes up with and if it''s not what we wanted we will seek a refund and look at getting one made where you have suggested.

Hey Miss,
my suggestion would also be Jogia diamonds. Just contact them and send them some pics of the style of ring you like. Even if they don''t have it listed on their site, most vendors like them will have access to a bench to make what you desire.
If not, I still suggest looking at getting your diamond from there, and then looking into a reputable local bench to make your setting.

At the moment, for us Aussie buyers, Jogia seems to be a very good option. There is also Holloway''s in Melbourne to consider - Garry would be able to make your ring , but sometimes they are not as "budget friendly" as other options.
I would email both of them and see what they can do - Jogia''s prices are very competitive even with the US online vendors, and they have some happy customers around here lately - you can do a search for more background..
