Hey folks,

Well, after a bit of looking I think I may have made my decision. I contacted James Allen and requested the hearts image for one of their "true hearts" diamonds. A copy of the hearts image is attached. Sorry not to provide images of the holloway cut advisor results, IS image, diamond image, etc, but I just can''t seem to get photos to embedd properly. In any case, that information is available on JA''s website here: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1255580.asp

Anyway, what do you guys think? Would you consider this a true H&A diamond? How do you think the stone will perform (I notice it''s a bit outside of the AGS ideal range on the holloway cut advisor)? Any concerns when viewing the available info?

Vital Stats:

1.02carat H VS1
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 56.6%
Crown Angle: 34.5°
pavilion Angle: 40.9°
Girdle: Thin to slightly thick
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated before I make the final plunge!!! I have a 24 hour hold on the diamond so I need to make my final choice fairly quickly!

The image looks good, one of the hearts I can't quite see clearly at the tips to be sure ( could be my monitor) so I will defer to an expert opinion on this.

Great hearts image!!! It should be a very good performing and balanced stone, not worries from me.

Which one are you referring to Lorelei?

Looks good to me too.

It looks good to me.

Perhaps you should reserve the stone while you make your decision . . . you don''t want someone else to come along and say, "You''re right, that stone is perfection!" and snatch it up while you''re deciding.

I''m not sure what range you think it''s out of. It scores a 1.6 on the HCA so I then move on to the cut. Looks good there. On to the images... looks great there too. Nice looking diamond. Go for it!

The one at around 11 o'clock, can't quite see the tip clearly to see if it is bent, could be my monitor though or I am overthinking it ( which is quite possible).

So quit thinking!!! If you need advice on that, just ask. I figured out how to not think years ago--most likely in English class in high school.

OK, seriously. The heart at 11:30 appears to me to have a very slightly bent tip, as does the one at 2:30 (dang, I wish the image was straight), but neither is very much.

To MV, some things to look for are: uniform heart sizes, uniform arrow tip sizes, consistent spacing between hearts & tips, no split/cleft hearts, squared off heart ears and the heart points meeting evenly (not bent). This diamond, as far as I can see, does great on these--the bent tips are minor and not a concern for me since everything else checks out well.

I''ve attached the IS image. I''m not an expert so please tell me if I am wrong, but doesnt it look like there is some leakage at the 11 to 4 range? Also, the arrows at 4 and 5 o''clock look a little funny with black marks under the heads?

Should this be a concern for MaineVette?

It could just be the lighting but even if it was leakage its so slight I doubt it would be perceptible in real life. The image looks as if it could be tilted also and it would appear a couple of the arrow heads are broken, but its hard to tell from that image as it is tilted.

No leakage there, the diamond is slightly tilted in that direction when the IS image is taken.

Yep, tilted and no concerns.

Matt, you are correct that the diamond shows a little paler pink in those areas. That is most likely a result of the tilt when the image was taken. If the diamond was square to the camera, the whole table area would probably show an even pink color.

looks to be within the acceptable limits for h&a to me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I thought this was a pretty good example of a H&A diamond, and a very nice diamond overall, but wanted to get the opinions from some other - more seasoned - diamond lovers.

It appears that, after several months of looking and waiting for the right diamond at the right price, I''ve finally found it. I e-mailed JA to confirm the hold and plan to place my order later this afternoon.

Thanks again for yoru help everyone! Once I receive the ring I''ll be sure to post a picture.
