Reassurance about stone and setting

Hello all,

Very long time lurker here, back from 2010 or so. It has finally come time for me to design my engagement ring with my amazing partner.

We bought a 1.3 OEC, very beautiful. I do worry sometimes about its sparkle, since I didn't post about the stone on rocky talk before buying, but it appears beautiful to my eyes, and from what I've read, that's the most important part of older cuts. Hopefully some of the older cut experts could sneak in and reassure me about the stone. I did buy the stone from a reputable seller recommended routinely on PriceScope.

We had sidestones source to match as well, 0.7 ctw total with the though that this size makes the center stone look bigger.

For setting, I was leaning towards a trellis setting in rose gold, like JuneRose has. But now that we are getting close to buying, I'm getting cold feet about the setting, worrying about how it would look.

What do you all think? Did I make a good choice with the stone and will the setting look ok? The stones are all K. Thank you all so much!

Wow! I think the faceting patterns on your stones are really pretty. I think they will make a lovely vintage-feeling 3-stone. Trellis settings tend to have very clean lines which would really allow your stones to sparkle.

Erika winters does some lovely work with older stones if you wanted something with a more romantic/antique feel without being too extreme http://www.erikawinters.com/.

Thanks for the comment! It makes me feel much better....I've been playing with the center stone in different lighting environments, and it can be so pretty. I think I was just scared at first because I can't always capture the fire or exact sparkle patterns I see others do.


I love the Erika winter designs....so pretty!! I was debating between BGD 3 stone trellis and the Whiteflash Butterflies setting. I don't think either would be a bad choice, just having a hard time picking which one to get. I might go with BGD because I adore JuneRose's reset in rose gold...I think her stack is the eventual look I'd love to have if my short fingers will accommodate the stones
