Hi guys,

So basically I've narrowed down to these two diamonds and I'm leaning towards the first one:

Diamond 1 - http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3435429.htm
Diamond 2 - http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d...1.500-i-vs1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104079100011

I'm a little bit worried about Diamond 1. The price per ct weight ($8266/ct) is much lower than similar stones. I'm looking at one 1.67ct I VS2 ($9232/ct) and one 1.722ct I VS2 ($9745/ct). I know per ct weight increases dramatically for larger stones. Maybe it's just at the border to be considered large stone?

Should I be worried? WF has confirmed me that it's completely eye clean and they do not think there's anything negative that impacts this diamond. But I want to see if you guys have any comments based on the graphs? Is it a good buy?

If you think Diamond 2 is a better buy, let me know as well! (PS. I'm ok with fluorescence. I'm not sure if my fiance-to-be would appreciate in the long term)

Thank you so much in advance!

Both look gorgeous. Nothing to worry about in either. Both vendors have great reputations and you are choosing from their top of the line cuts.

Agree, both look absolutely gorgeous. I'd go with stone #1 due to the size, price and no fluorescence. But it's tough - you are basically choosing between two top of the line stones from extremely reputable vendors. I have heard only good things about the BGD blue line, but I personally don't like fluorescence so whether your fiancé will mind, no one knows (and that's most important since she will be the one wearing it!). I know that stones at the whole carat and half carat marks tend to command a bit of a premium.

I think you're safe either way. I believe both have great return policies if the stone doesn't meet your expectations.

Both are beautiful - but I'm loving that yummy fluor on the BG!

WF one seems to have slightly better symmetry. Both are nice but I'd probably choose it.

Thank you so much guys! Hope I will bring up some good news soon!

I'm not a fan of fluor...but #1 looks great! And bigger! :-) If Fluor doesn't bother you...#2 looks nice, too.

Hi guys,

I'm about to make the final decision but WF said that the feather does break the surface (it is still completely eye clean). Should that be a concern?

All feathers, by definition, reach the surface.

You can read more about it here (Neil makes a comment about half-way down the page):

wow I thought it's just a crack but would not necessarily reach the surface. New thing learnt. Thank you so much!

In that case, I think this feather is pretty safe based on its location?

Re: Reasonably priced or too good to be true? Please comment

My personal opinion is I only am concerned when a feather is near the girdle...and many people aren't even concerned with that, especially in a VS2.

Thanks for reassuring. I was a little bit paralyzed when they told me that it breaks the surface. But now since it's normal and the feather is not on a delicate location, I guess it would be fine on a VS2 stone. Thanks a lot!

I completely understand, I turned down an otherwise lovely stone because of feathers in/on the girdle. It's that "mind clean" thing they talk about here!

Re: Reasonably priced or too good to be true? Please comment

I knew feather on the girdle could be bad, but never know every feather would break the surface.

It's surprising to see that even experts (Link given by RockyRacoon) had a debate on the definition. It is so confusing.

I thought I did everything I could to learn, but certainly this is something I missed (and probably it is not clearly defined in many online sources),
