Well...I have been looking at stones from 1.2-1.5. All the stones were way out of my budget starting from 12,000 to 15,500, and none being canadian diamonds(more expensive). So unfortunately my girlfriend wont get the 1.5 she so wanted.

The one shop stated they can perhaps work a deal on the 1.21 ct canadian diamond VS2,Fine cut, F color with GIA report + Canadian certificate.

Any idea what price I should aim for? Is this considered a small diamond? It seems eveyone one this site are talking about 1.5 +.

Thanks. URGENT because I want to propose THIS WEEKEND!!!

Frank, why don't we just make this a bit easier, hmmm? What is your budget for the stone in US dollars?

You don't have to go F, VS2 at this size if you want to maximize size. I have an H, SI2 that's white and totally eyeclean. You can go lower color/lower clarity without sacrificing a thing visually.

Don't let the posts here mislead you......1.5 is NOT the average around here....that's BIG. A well-cut 1.21 diamond as you've mentioned is still much above the norm in terms of size for most people.

well I would like to stick to around 10,000 or less. Where I live there is a 15% tax added to the price.

Will you consider G/H stones? Will you consider SI clarity?

I think that you should go on different sites, set the price range of what you want to spend excluding the 15% surcharge.
Search for stones in the range of 1.35-1.60 and see what you get. Hey, you never know, there might be hope for that 1.50+.

there are pretty good deals out there.
