hmmm you cant compare a $572 setting to a custom halo.
If you approach them with the attitude your post shows it is no wonder they wont work with you.
Sorry but it had to be said.
Consider a different approach if you want them to work with you.
Of course I don't approach them that way Stormdr. I know in the back of my head what is out there. I don't discuss that with the jeweler. I simply approach a jewler, explaining what I would like, and asking him if he can do it. I don't get many words in before they say no. I'm sorry if my post shows a particular "attitude"..I am a well educated, well mannered individual, I may vent a little on this forum, isn't that what it's here for? For one to discuss diamonds, find helpful info, request opinions and advice? Besides, after a year of trying to have someone reset this beautiful diamond, it starts to become more of a nuisance than a joy! I'm a little frustrated...sorry! I run a successful business...and I it upsets me to see fellow business owners turn business away, and act so unprofessional! I thank you for suggesting David's site.

Janey, I would love the info of that jeweler in your area. Thanks so much!

I agree with everyone else - run away! Have you seen this one from Diamonds by Lauren? I don''t know if they''ll set your stone but it would be worth asking at this point. It seems like a decent price.

(Admin: If I''m not allowed to post a link to a jewelers, just please let me know and I won''t do it again.)
Why wouldn''t you be able to post a link IrishBreakfast? Thanks. I will contact David ..I have chatted with him briefly on his message board, and he''s very pleasant. Disney and Iceprincess thanks for seeing it the way I do! Sancho, thanks for the info, I will surely contact that Toronto jeweler as well. Not all jewelers are as pleasant or understanding as the ones mentioned daily on Pricescope. I guess I have just had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with the ones I have! It has nothing to do with "attitude" since I am NOTHING but pleasant, and straightforward when discussing business. Thanks to those who were helpful and provided advice. I will perhaps visit Pricescope again, when I have my new ring..which will be a beauty!!

I don''t know beau. I''m new to all this and still trying to figure out what I can and can''t post without upsetting anyone or stepping on toes. I''m just feeling my way along and slowly getting the hang of it!

Maybe I did misread your post and if so I apologize.
Rereading it it still comes across as you saying you were being real aggressive with them.
That can be a hazard of the written word and limited parts of the story.

Hope you find the setting of your dreams real soon and everything works out!

I hear ya! At times, it seems many are walking on eggshells, afraid of what to say or not to say, in hopes of avoiding being banned! (OH MY!!) My GOD, it''s just a website...people should be allowed to post their opinions...speak their mind. It also seems there are a few that like to attack others for having a voice!(which is true on all forums/websites) That is why I will be taking a step back, taking a break from all this!.I am a confident, well spoken individual, and sometimes others are initimidated by that! IrishBreakfast..just be yourself, don''t worry about "upsetting anyone, or stepping on toes"! You can''t please everyone!

I had a custom job done by a jeweler in Carrollton, Texas named Roc Rawlings. He has done a lot of work for me, from full custom jobs, down to setting stones into settings that I bought on Ebay. He will never turn down work and his work is first class.

I recently had a 12x10mm oval synthetic alexandrite set by him into a white gold setting. I gave him 2 diamond trillions that I already had along with 5 diamonds to use for the shoulders. He provided me with the other 15 small diamonds and used the original basket from the ring. He made a split shank design to go around the trillions that had the diamond melee set into millegrain. For all this he only charged me USD $850.00. Then I wanted the trillions set lower, and he only charged me $65 for new heads. I can''t post the ring on PS because the center stone is synthetic and so I am not allowed to.

The ring is really cool and he is super nice and easy to work with. Very creative too. His phone number is 972-733-0085. You can always call him just for an estimate to see what he would charge for comparison''s sake, even if you are not going to use him.

I wanted to add that he quoted me $1000 to replicate a setting I have with an oval sapphire center and diamond halo. The ring is actually silver which I did not know as I inherited it. I took it to him to fix a sloppy repair job and that''s when he told me it''s silver. I asked him how much to copy the setting in white gold since I love it but with adding diamonds set in millegrain down the shoulders, and he said $1000. I don''t know how much it would cost if I had had to buy the diamonds for the halo.
