Welcome to Pricescope!

I had a look at the online prices, you could get a radiant of this size for around that price, but it depends on what you mean by a good colour. I found some F SI1 and G VS to SI clarity for around that price with GIA reports, but the cut quality is unknown as these are on the virtual listings. What I would do is find a vendor you like out of the PS vendors list, tell them what you are looking for and your budget, and see what they can find for you.

An F or even G would be fine. I would prefer a rectangle to a square. Are these in demand or hard to come by?

Larger carat weights are in demand, and are also in limited supply from what I understand. That is where a well connected vendor can be such an advantage, as sometimes these diamonds can take a while to source, also you want one with the best cut you can get, to make the most of the diamond''s beauty.

I would contact a vendor, give them your budget and requirements and have them look for you. Your specs sound fine, so perhaps D to G colour and VS to an eyeclean SI1 or even SI2 if an eyeclean one could be found in that size, then see what they can find for you.

Great advise. Has anyone heard of yourdiamond.com? It looks as though they have lots of listings. I am sure though that is just there network and not their actually inventory right?

I have never heard of them. I went to their site, which says they cut their own diamonds. Maybe they do, don''t know. How well they''re cut, who knows.

I would suggest the same as Lorelei, and have a PS vendor find what you''re looking for, that''s the best way to get a great stone.

I just signed up for a search .Also would it be a mistake to buy just under 3ct. to save money and or get a better quality stone?Although I do not plan to sell ever, I do not want someone to tell me in 5 years that I would have had better appreciation if I bought the 3ct.

HI:

Yes, I think it is realistic. Stick to colors G and above as radiants have a propensity to show their color more readily than other fancies. (I have a radiant....H.....and in certain lighting conditions, I can see body color in mine....)

cheers--Sharon

From what I understand, the re-sale market for diamonds is terrible, full stop. You are lucky to get 1/2 what you paid, so this consideration shouldn''t come into play when you buy. Your stone simply will not appreciate in value the way that the market''s prices will skyrocket. Do a search and you will see lots of threads on this topic with comments from the real experts.

Your budget is fine! I would contact WF, goodoldgold.com, or jamesallen.com and give them your budget and see what they can come up with. You are going to be more restricted by inventory than by your budget. There aren''t that many well-cut nice stones in large sizes.

Ditto DD, PLEASE don''t buy a diamond with thoughts of investment/ appreciation in mind, diamonds are not a good financial investment. Buy a well cut diamond which brings you joy, and one which you feel your money was wisely invested in your happiness, with knowledge that unfortunately you are highly unlikely to get back anything near what you paid for it. What you could do, if you want to keep upgrade options open, is to go with a vendor like Whiteflash, GOG etc, who have a lifetime upgrade policy on some of their diamonds. That way if the diamond you bought from them is eligible, you can get back full value against another stone.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is just that a jeweler once told me that the guy who cut my 1.99carat VVS2 E pear was an idiot because it would have been worth so much more as a true 2. Saying that my fiance'' at the (40 years ago) probably got a better deal for that very reason. SOOOO do I buy just my radiant under 3 and get better quality or go for over 3 regardless of investment virtures? I plan to set it in a halo micro pave with bullet side stones. It will bling either way. Your thoughts.
