I need some drapes (probably panels) for my teenage son''s room. I don''t want to spend the money for custom and I''d like to get them hung within a month or so. I''m looking for something simple, maybe linen or similar and I want them lined.

Does anyone have experience with ordering them from Restoration Hardware/Pottery Barn or someplace similar? Are they well lined or do they seem flimsy? I''d love to hear from someone with firsthand knowledge.

I'd actually strongly recommend either JCPenney or BB&Beyond (if you have some 20% off coupons). I think PB and C&B are really really overpriced (even though they're nice), so unless they are on sale not worth it at all. And then many times they are on final sale and you can't return if you don't like them.

PS Especially since it is for your teenage son - totally not worth the splurge for something he won't notice. If light blocking is important to you, BB&Beyond has great ones with light blocking linings.

I have Pottery Barn and Z Gallerie panels all throughout my house. They are great quality in my opinion and both are lined very well and feel substantial. I splurged on Pottery Barn rods and finials in the lving and dining room, but found great rods and finials at Target for the bedrooms.

ETA: I have all silk dupioni panels. I have not had experience with linen panels, but I'm sure they're great as well. They sell most colors/patterns from the catalog in the stores, so you could always swing in and see them in person.

Yep, these are my go-to places for pre-made drapes.

I''ve had silk and velvet PB drapes (with their rods) for my living, dining, and bedroom. They''re nice and they look great. For a teenage boy I don''t think I''d spend the money, though. I''d probably order something from Smith+Noble because they''re so easy and the quality is pretty good, else I''d go to Home Depot. http://www.smithandnoble.com

Right now I have wide-slat wooden blinds in nearly all my windows, and I love them. It''s a nice, clean, no-fuss look that might appeal to a boy.

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.

I agree with the BB&Beyond suggestions. They have a lot of good options. I got some simple curtains from Ikea for good prices as well. The lined ones are decent quality and look good. The unlined ones are thing and I wouldn''t necessarily recommend those. For a teenage boy, I think PB would be overpriced!
