I think I''m about to do it again! My husband & I upgraded my stone last October from a 1.1 to a 1.6 RB. It took me about a month to decide on a new setting. I deliberated long and hard between a simple eternity style setting (which I had lusted after since we got engaged about 6 years ago) and a halo setting . I went with the halo and not long after I had it, I decided that it just wasn''t for me. I missed seeing my diamond. The halo had blurred the line between the big rock and the teeny melee in the halo. Sooooo, I had my RB re-set in a Tiffany repro solitaire in February. I really do like it, but I''m missing the bling factor. I want more, more, more!!!

I took the halo setting to my jeweler yesterday and he can remove the halo and modify the setting a bit, & add a head to mount my diamond for $200. I was originally just going to sell the halo setting, but I don''t think I''ll get much $$ for it. For $200, will I get the setting that I''ve had in my mind for 6 years??? Or am I just in need of change AGAIN? I realize that no one can truly answer these questions but me, but I guess I''m hoping that some of you girls can just tell me what to do!!!

When finished, it will look almost exactly like this.

200.00 does not seem like a lot to pay for a setting that you adore!

Thanks for the reply 2danes! That''s what I''m thinking. I''m leaning towards doing it and then I''ll always have the solitaire setting to go back to if I change my mind.....again

With the way prices are going up everywhere, I don''t want to make a decision 6 months from now only to be faced with paying more.

Reset all the way ... $200 seems reasonable.
It seems from the post you have yearned for an eternity e-ring for quite some time.
As you pointed out, you are bound to lose some $$ by selling the halo setting anyhow so my vote is: NO to selling YES to Recycle!

I think you should go for it--you''re not using the halo setting, anyway, and $200 isn''t much to spend for a new setting that would make you happier. Plus I think the modified setting would look great with the set you already have!

Aaahhhhh you girls make me smile. I needed some enablers....I''ve come to the right place!

RESET! It would look so good in that setting and for that little bit of money, go for it and get what you want!

New to Pricescope. Found the site when I was most recently obsession about yet another redo on my wedding set. I just did it again. Upgraded to a 2.22 ct Asscher cut center stone in pave platinum setting. Bought a pave band to match. Not that I didn''t love my previous set - 2 ct total princess three stone engagement ring with 1 ct total wedding band. I think I might be a little nuts.

Gemgaga my dear... You have come to the right place. Welcome to PS.

If you have been wanting this setting for 6 years then I would definitely have the jeweler do the work. $200 sounds like a great deal to me, and you are correct in your thinking about reselling, it is so hard to get a good price as a seller. I think that it would look beautiful!

Me too, love the new upgrade by the way

Thanks so much everyone! That settles it then. As soon as my little one fishes eating her snack, we''re off to the jeweler!!!!!!!

I did almost the same thing! I bought a halo setting for my new stone last June. The jeweler couldn''t set it right away and let me take the setting with me. I spent almost a whole weekend staring at my loose stone in the halo and decided that it was absolutely gorgeous, but it wasn''t for me. I returned it and got a shared prong setting instead. I think your setting modified would look beautiful, and hopefully it will give you that extra sparkle you''re wanting.

I''m on my third setting since last June. I clearly have issues!!!

hey luvmyhalo - could i ask..where did you get your halo setting? it''s beautiful!

It looks great with the eternity band!

It looks very pretty. Does the eternity ering band add enough bling for you over the plain Tiffany setting?

It really seems to make your stone pop!

Thanks Dani & Missgotrocks! I really love the way it turned out and its just the added bling I was looking for. I still love the look of the solitaire though! If only I could have 3 e-rings......how FUN would that be???

1. my current set
2. 3 carat solitaire
3. 3-stone with pear center and RB sides

I LOVE the reset without the halo! THat''s the type of re-set that I plan to do to my solitaire next year - just a gorgeous look!

Your reset turned out beautifully! Congratulations!

I think it turned out beautifully. Thin pave settings without a halo are among my favorite. They add a little something compared to a solitaire, but still let the diamond shine on its own.

I think $200 is really reasonable, even if it doesn''t keep you happy for long

Juuuuust teasing hehe. It''s still a lot cheaper than a new setting, and I''m sure you''re saving money over trying to sell the halo and purchase another setting. Come on over to colored stones, and then we can find something fun to put in your solitaire setting. Then you''ll have tons of options

Thank you all for your kind words! I love the re-set but its soooo nice to hear your opinions to confirm that I''m not crazy. (Well, by PS standards anyway

Icekid.....you''re delightfully evil!

I''ve been lurking over in colored stones for a while. I''ve got that empty solitaire and the halo part of my ring to play with. Recyling jewelry is fun

You''re not crazy, you''re BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

What a great idea!

Thanks Bliss! You must be sooo excited! I saw you post earlier that you''re getting your re-set tomorrow! WOOHOOOOOO!!!! Can''t wait to see pics!
