I''m having a dilemma (once again!)... I LOVE RB''s because of their sparkle and performance, and I have always known I wanted a halo, however I hate round halos, they just don''t suit me! I prefer the cushioned halos. (HW style)

Nowwwwwww.. what i''m looking for, is pics of RB''s in cushion halos. The easy route would be to get a cushion cut diamond, but I want a nice sparkly hearts and arrows RB!!!

I went to see someone recently and I showed them a design of a RB in a cushion halo setting that I had in mind, the response was - why would you want a RB in a halo setting...?!

I mean... why not? It''s what I want and i''m trying to combine everything I love into one ring but it seems so hard to find someone that will understand this. I know everyone has recommended a lot of great vendors here, but i''m in the UK and need to be sure exactly what I want first. Pictures are sometimes hard to judge...but what else do I have to go by... it''s not like we have a vast array of great halo jewellery to choose from here. Argh

If anyone has any additional pics of RB''s in cushion halos i''d be so greatful.

Also, what are your thoughts about a round in a squarish halo? Do you think it would work?!

I don''t have a photo but my daughters ring is a RB HA in a cushion halo with a twisted band. Someone recently posted the exact setting but I cant find it. It is beautiful!

I love the Whiteflash Guinevere setting...I mean, all I''ve seen are pics but it is my favorite cushion halo setting that can have a RB in it. There are only a couple of people on PS that have it...hopefully I will be one of those people soon lol!

I also like the Tacori 2623 and 2620, but the halo is just a little too small for my taste--that''s why I like the Whiteflash one, it''s bigger than the Tacori, but still delicate

+1 LFVDoll''s is one of my favs too.

I also love WF''s Guinevere soliatare, not sure about the profile view though but I bet you could do an amazing custom design based on this

I love the Guinevere too although someone told me that the halo was bead set and i''m looking for micropave (like Leon Mege''s style) is this true? Its so hard to tell from pics isn''t it?!

I also found the pic attached and have been talking to WF about it, but also confused as I want something very intricate that I feel someone like Leon Mege would create but I know he wouldnt want to copy someone elses design....!!

Seems like we have similar tastes - as i loved the Tacori when i saw pics, and when i saw it in person, the halo was way too small!!!

LVF's is a Stardust setting. They are just ga-ga gorgeous in person. SO much detail. I adore their designs.

Bead set is a type of pave.

Beautiful! Maisie, is that "bead set" pave? I really want micropave - i.e. showing minimal metal...Do WF do this?
 
Yes its bead set. I don''t know if Whiteflash do micropave. Its a while since I have worked with them. I would drop them an email and ask

I was just going to suggest a square H&A. You get the H&A pattern but still get the cushion in the halo.

But I like rounds in cushion halos as well

Yup I spoke to Jonathan today but I don''t think the square H&A''s are in my budget... so he showed me some cushions.. but i''m a sucker for the round H&A cut!!!

I''m going to the high end stores tomorrow to have a look at some lovely rings though, so maybe i''ll have a better idea...

Maisie - Am i being really dim or is Whiteflash''s Amphora setting in micropave?? I''m not sure...

In one of your other threads I posted photos of the Grace setting my vatche. It is my favourite cushion shaped halo for an RB. It is bead set as well.

Most of Leon's rings are prong set mushroom or v cut(HW) pave not micropave. Leon typically uses 0.8 - 1 pointer diamonds in 4 prong settings, whereas micropave is often 0.5 pt and below and bead set. Tacori rings often have 0.5pt and smaller in them.

I agree with you I don't like smaller diamonds than about 0.8 Pointers.

You could always pick more cushion outline shapes with hearts and arrows pavillion mains and perfect optical symmetry, like Square Cushion HA, Jubilee, Princess of Hearts. All are available at GOG and are comparable in optics to the best HA rounds. The pricing should now be lowered to the same as the GOG H&A so I'd check with Jon as he recently lowered the prices on some of these.

Oooo... I have asked Jon about the square H&A cushions but maybe i should ask about the jubilee and princess of hearts too.. I am basically looking for the optics of a round but a different shape...

That helps about the V cut pave and muchroom cut pave - is this something that can only be done by hand or can it be doing using CAD?
 
A note on Saturn Jewels...I have a halo setting. My jeweler sent my ring to Saturn to have a custom made wedding band designed. They do beautiful work. It never hurts to look ahead when you are getting your e-ring made up
