I know when you look at all these magnified huge pictures of settings- things look different. My question is- is it going overboard to have LM set 2.2 tcw studs rather than vender like WF? i don''t know cost, but I have become a sucker for his delicate prongs. the stones/ setting just seem very graceful compared to pic of Wf 3 prong (no offense to you Wf owners- they are ALL beautiful!) Do people agree Lm look more elegant- or in real life I won''t be able to tell difference???

Leon Mege martini...

compared to WF (where I will probably buy stones)...

if budget isn''t an issue, I much prefer the delicate nature of the LM pair.

I personally wouldn''t go for the LM. In real life, people aren''t going to notice the prongs, just the sparkle.

ooh green. good question! i''d like to know the same thing. i''m also shopping for a pair of martini studs and i agree that in the pictures, the LM martinis definitely look more delicate. they''re gorgeous!

I know stones are what matter... but... it is sort of like wearing really nice undergarments when no one else will know!

I think the Leons are amazing...if you can and you have your heart set on them, I say do it!

LOL!!!!

I love the way the LM setting looks... so delicate. I would have to agree with mrssalvo... If budget is not an issue then definitely go with the LMs!

I agree. I think the LM martini setting is exquisite! You probably won''t be able to tell much of a difference, especially once they''re in the ear, but assuming they''re not cost-prohibitive, I would say go for them.

Someday, if and when I upgrade my current studs, I would love for Leon to set them and also make a pair of pave jackets for them at the same time.

What size are the stones in the LM picture? They look huge compared to the WF, and that may be why the LM settings appear to be so much more delicate. I would bet that WF would do claw prongs for you. But if knowing you have Mege in your ears will make you happier, go for it!

I don''t know the WF size- probably small. The LM are 2 ct EACH. i will only be getting 1 ish ct each.

Someone has previously posted a picture of their LM martini-set earrings with pave jackets. I believe that each earring was ~0.5 ct (so ~1 cttw for just the studs). The search functionality isn''t working for me at the moment, otherwise, I would direct you to her post (with pictures).

Hmmm- I want to find that post! I thought down the road instead of upgrading to bigger diamonds, I could just have LM make jackets for his 3 prong and that would give more WOW without buying new ACA''s.

green with envy,

try searching Leon Jackets, you might be able to locate the thread. for some reason the search function just isn''t working for me today

The answer shouldn't be so cut and dry...more thought should be put into your decision. I think you should consider your lobe shape. If you have tiny little lobes...or larger fleshy ones...if your hole is high or low...the reason? Weight.

Leon's will be lighter in weight and I think the diamond would sit upright with less aggravation. I think that is one of the benefits to the martini setting. It actually goes into the earring hole...as apposed to just sitting on the skin.

If you were setting 1/2 carat or lower it wouldn't matter. But your stone size is already weighty...so I would go with the lightest smallest amount of metal possible. You want those boulders to be erect and in the correct position to catch the light. I vote Leon.

LOVE THEM!!!! Do you remember what size stones? My earlobes actually are a bit lower than i would want from years of abuse so I really want diamonds to sit high. i tried on martini and I am positive I want them. Now just who to make... thought I would check about $ so waiting for quote back from LM.

Those are the prettiest I've seen!

The LM Martini are gorgeous too! Nice to know about them sitting up off of the ear.

Once you find out could you give us a ballpark idea of how much more LM is? I just assume sometimes that he would be too much but then found out his ring prices are very reasonable.

I guess it would depend how much more they cost and what other things I also wanted.

Looking at them in the picture they look so teeny and refined...very beautiful. Knowing how my earrings sit in my ear, how I never take them off, how my hair covers them a lot of the time...I personally wouldn''t think it was worth the cost. I''d rather have him make something I personally would be looking at (ie. ring) all the time. But I''d be on a strict budget, so that''s why.

Ok- Leon contacted me. Pretty pricey. $$$ Just to have the diamonds set in platinum martini setting is $1000. I did not ask about jackets because for me that would be later on down the road.

They ARE amazing. Do you think Leon would want to make jackets later for a 3 prong setting that is not his? I assume he would- but it looks like his setting and jacket just work perfectly together.

Wf platinum setting in platinum is only $375. that is a BIG difference.

If LM setting looks more delicate- will that sit even better in ear than the WF 3 prong? Or probably all martini sit the same in ear?

I would think all martini's basically sit the same.

And yeah, those are some pretty pricey prongs....

Oops...now knowing the price...I am with firegoddess...budget would make me go wf.

But you know wf listens to their customer...look at the redo on the tiffany head. I would see how far they can custom and widdle it down in a thinner version. What do you have to loose? Just ask. Sure the custom may run a little more.

You have not because you ask not!!!

I would ask LM about making the jackets later on. One thousand for those settings is very pricey, too pricey. . .

Leon''s design is gorgeous of course, but I couldn''t justify paying that much more for stud settings. The differences are much too subtle for earrings. No one is going to notice anything but the diamonds. Now those jackets are another matter!

sounds like a lovely project. for myself, if i were going to up the ante a grand i would do it with stones. the lm setting is lovely but the upgraded size in a quality stone would be far more noticible than the mountings.

the current size you are considering and the wf martinis would be welcome in my home. you can''t loose with either.

I remembered that those settings were $1000. Honestly, with studs you sinply don''t see the prongs. I think WF white gold settings are totally adequate for studs. You see my ACA''s sparkling and you don''t even notice the settings. I''d love to have Leon make me some things, but stud settings would be low on my list of priorities unless money was unlimited.

Ok- I am sure there is some thread about this... but what is better -white gold or patinum????
