Although the rap is a guideline, I am curious to know if my local diamond store is making a killing on me if I purchase a stone from them.
When I check the interactive price stats, a round 1A cut in the 1.50-1.99 carat range, F VS1-VS2 is about $10000/carat.
A 1A cut in the 2.00-2.99 carat range, F VS1-VS2 is about $15000/carat.
When I was at my local jeweler on Saturday, they gave me a price per carat on AGS 0, F VS2, round briliiant in a size range of 1.65-1.85 of about $15000/carat.
Something is just not adding up.....I think their margins are very high, as the store is known locally for being expensive.
I''m sure someone out here has access to rap....maybe it''s not good etiquette to disclose the prices??
You need to check out some of the PS vendors. You will pay a lot less than your local B&M amd the cut quality is most likely to be a whole lot better too. At the top of the page you can pricescope your diamond. Have a look at www.whiteflash.com and www.goodoldgold.com We don't go by rap here.
If you really want to know rap prices, then ask your jeweler. I have been to many jewelers that let me see the info while standing in their store.
Otherwise, as has been suggested, use "Pricescope Your Diamond" to get the going prices online. This will give you the best price range IMO. BTW, it also gives you price per carat.
