So I''ve been missing a pair of kitchen scissors for about 2 weeks now. Just happened to find them in the bottom of my purse. Don''t ask me why or how they got there. I can''t really think of any reason I''d need these giant scissors in said handbag.... Does this happen to you?

Well...in my purse currently is a staple remover, hair gel which I do not use, lip gloss that I do not use, a baby spoon, and a vanilla tootsie roll (which I just ate).

I have no idea how any of those items made it''s way in to my work purse.

So yes it happens to me all the time

Yep, I''ve had a roll of tape in the console of my car for months. I have no idea how it got there or why I haven''t been motivated to put it in it''s proper place.

Yes! I find this all the time! I''ve taken to blaming one of the cats, and I''m not so sure I''m totally off the mark..

This happens to me quite regularly....

TV remote in the kitchen
phone charger in my car
eye liner in my purse

Constantly
Something

Oh yeah. All the time. I cleaned off the dresser yesterday and was dismayed and the random range of things I found!

I once found one of my shoes and a birthday card IN THE REFRIGERATOR. I''m extremely absent-minded, so things always wind up in strange places because if I put it down for even a second, I won''t remember where I put the item. This is doubly true in the morning--my husband follows me around just to make sure the milk winds up back in the fridge because he still hasn''t forgotten the time I put the carton in the dishwasher.

Lol! Similarly, I put my empty bowl and spoon in the fridge, and the milk container in the dirty dishes bin.......

Ha, Doodle! You have me chuckling over here. Mr. Kama is relatively absent-minded. He carries the remote with him as he walks through the house - so we'll find it few hours later in the foyer, in the laundry room etc. He always misplaces his glasses,, keys and other misc. items even though there is an exact spot in the house to place them! When we were long distance, he would frequently call me up and ask me where I would expect to find 'insert-whatever-he-was-missing/looking-for'. I asked him if he checked the other side of the bed....and that's where he found them! The other day I found a clean pair of his underwear ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER

Me? I'm messy. But my mess is organized! If you asked me where 'X' item is, I'll find it in 2 minutes flat. When I was writing my thesis, there were mountains of papers lying all over the house. If you want to see a particular paper, I know exactly which pile and where in the said pile it would be!

It''s so weird--I''m really organized with some things (my CDs are alphabetized by artist, and every book I own is color-coded, haha), but the simple things are where I can''t be trusted. I made homemade tiramisu the other day, and one of the packages of ladyfingers was in the living room with my laptop...ya know, just in case the cookies wanted to start a PS account. DH has given up on finding anything I organize, though. Apparently, my systems only make sense in my demented mind! I''m also eternally grateful to Carrie Bradshaw for wearing mismatched shoes in an episode because, with the number of pairs of shoes I have where one has disappeared but the other one is still with me, I''ve just started inventing pairs of shoes based off of which shoes are the same style but different colors.

Yes, exactly! And woe betide the misguided soul who tries to be helpful and puts my piles away

My mom once lost her lip liner... couldn''t find it no matter how hard she looked. It turned up in the freezer weeks later. She left it in the car and it had melted and she put it in the freezer to harden back up and promptly forgot about it.

We recently went on vacation and when we got there, I couldn''t find my face lotion. I assumed I''d forgotten to pack it. I found it about halfway thru the trip tucked into my sneaker. I remembered I''d put it there because it seemed logical... tucked away, the top wouldn''t accidently get wedged and leak lotion everywhere.....

Completely OT - April your dog looks like an Ewok and it''s adorable

If I wasn''t bad enough before, my toddler is now helping me "misplace" items. Sippy cups are getting lost at an astounding rate. I found one last night. In the dishwasher. Very logical, right? It was still full of water and placed on the top rack upside down. Right next to his snack cup full of chex.

Oh god yeah I''m totally absent minded. A couple of recent doozies...I wanted to make a nutella sandwich. Got all the ingredients together, couldn''t find the nutella, went on a hunt for it that lasted about 3 minutes, and it was...in my hand. In my friggin left hand. It was the first thing I''d gotten from the cupboard and I was holding it the entire time.
Idiot.

About three months ago I was driving out of my neighbourhood and my neighbour came running after me yelling and waving his arms because my shoes were not on my feet as I had previously thought, but were in fact on the roof of my car.

All the time - I find things in all the wrong places at my house. For some reason I am incapable of keeping a set of pajamas together and forget about socks - those are my lost cause, I find them in the strangest places. Shoes too...I don''t know what the heck I do at times but I will find one shoe in the closet and one in the kitchen. Apparently, I have an adversion to pairs. Better hope I never have twins or else I am in deep trouble
3.gif

DH once called me into the kitchen asking if we had a toaster. "Of course we have a toaster!" I told him. He then waved his arms in a circle and told me that he had searched everywhere and couldn''t find a toaster. I stuck my hand out about foot in front of me, tapped the toaster and said "well, we certainly know you won''t be replacing Sherlock Holmes any day now, will ya?".

Yes, and most often with the remote.

My SO and his roommate lost their remote. They went months and months without one until I bought a second. One day, the second one went missing. We started a manhunt (remote hunt?) and found both remotes under the cushions of the couch, along with Ipod headphones, lots of change, and I think a sweater. I know this isn''t absentminded-ness, but it is was a case of "random stuff in strange places!"

This made me laugh so loud I scared the dog!!! Boy, does this remind me of my husband. It''s not that he''s absent minded, but more that he can''t see things outside of his expected "bubble." Does anyone remember the old Get Smart tv series? And the Cone of Silence that used to descend so they could have a private conversation? I tell hubby that he has one of those around him all the time and it is not until something enters his Cone of Silence that he even notices it! He is famous for looking all through the pantry or refrigerator for something and then asking me if I know where it is. I reach over his shoulder and pull it out, and he responds with something like "Oh, I thought it was on the Second shelf." D''oh!!!!!

Yes!

I used to watch that with my grandparents. That was awhile ago (and, yes, it was re-runs

When I was growing up, I once lost my cordless phone and found it 2 hours later in the freezer right when I had given up and decided to drown my teenage sorrows in ice cream.

My sisters shoes are in the back of my boyfriends car.

I hid them there ages ago to punnish her for ALWAYS stealing my favourate jandels and wearing them to death. I've just never got round to giving her shoes back. Oh well

For a while I was finding random hair ties and socks on the driveway. I think it was the cats bringing stuff out to play with.

The other day my son found a pair of my underwear (thongs no less) in his humungous lego box. They were clean, thank goodness, but I have no idea how they got there. The only connection is that he used to play with his legos in the guestroom, and I used to fold laundry in the guestroom......

I often put milk in my cabinets, and store leftovers in the cabinets too. Sometimes I''d absentmindedly open my cabinet to put my leftovers in, and see the milk carton staring back at me from that morning!

I found a cereal bowl with sugar milk coating it in the cabinet. I asked DH why he thought it should be put away after he used it instead of the sink. He said it wasn''t him. I don''t eat sugar on my cereal and JT can''t reach the shelf, but HE did NOT put it there.

However, I did find spray paint where my spray starch should have been. That could have been either of us, but luckily it didn''t get on any clothes!
