About 5-stone rings. I was wondering...if I wanted to get a 5-stone to wear as a standalone ring (RHR), what size stones should I be looking at? I wear a 3.5 so I''m not sure how big/small I can/should go, and I''d appreciate any guidance you guys can give me. I''d like the full finger coverage on top, but my fingers are pretty narrow. There''s been a lot of talk about class rings lately (around campus I mean) and I was thinking of saving up the next year and doing something like this (either 5 diamonds, or 3 diamonds, 2 colored stones - probably something red because red and white are both my university and law school''s colors) instead of a class ring I''ll never wear again. Thoughts?

Thank you!

Have you seen Kt''s moms? DROOL.

I''d do .25 to .30 pointers for a five stone. If you are only doing two diamonds (and two small ones in the bezel area). I''d get red spinels for the colored stones.

Hi Gypsy! Thanks for replying!

I did see KT''s moms...it was actually what inspired the idea. I e-mailed Lesley about it actually so great minds think alike

I''m just not sure what would be too big, y''know? I don''t know if I could pull off 3 pointers...I was thinking maybe either .20 or .25?

Also, I did like the idea of getting myself a diamond RHR to celebrate my "official" entry into adulthood (i.e. full-time job). I forget where I heard this (it might''ve been PS) but it was about how a woman should feel comfortable buying herself a diamond ring before a man does....

Ok, stopping rambling.

The rings is TDF! Totally on my wishlist. I think that''s a great idea instead of a class ring. I second the .25 to .30 pointers for full coverage. I also love kcoursolle''s ring which are .30 pointers on a small finger like yours. Hope she doesn''t mind me posting this.

Have you seen AmberGretchen''s beautiful five stone? She had it made with diamonds and tsavorites.

AG''s Tsavorite and Diamond Ring

Ooh I was looking for that thread earlier - thanks for linking it! I LOVE her tsav ring - THAT was actually the inspiration for possibly doing diamonds/red stones

Ooh thanks for the link! I LOVE Kcoursolle''s 5-stone. Stunning!

So a .30 wouldn''t look too big? I would love more bling...

I have a 5 stone on a size 6.5 finger. Its .8 tcw. I wear it as a wedding band with my ering but when I wear it
alone I have DSS and would have wanted something bigger (probably 1ctw). But on fingers your size (very tiny!)
I think .8 would be just fine! I think the only real way of knowing is to get out there and try some one unless
you can find some PSers with close to your finger size with 5 stoners in different sizes to show you (I''ll keep my
fingers crossed).

Here is a standalone picture of my 5 stoner...

I love the idea of getting a 5 stone instead of a class ring! Something you''ll actually wear and enjoy!

As for size. I have no clue. I have this fear that when I go to get 5 stone someday, the stones will be too big and uncomfortable. Prolly, silly, but it''s there.

I wear a size 4.5 and my band has .255 diamonds. If I wore it alone I would love to go bigger. I think .30 would look great on your tiny hands.

Here's a link to my ring https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-upgrade-40th-birthday-present.96812/

Hmm so it seems like I might be able to go anywhere from ~0.15 to 0.30 or so. This is going to be tough to decide. I'll also have to take a look at budget, but if this is going to be my splurge and gift to myself, I think you guys know which way I'll lean

ETA: I just checked out your thread, and I LOVE the size of those diamonds - they look great on your hand!

Haha I''m sure it won''t be uncomfortable! What size would you probably get if and when you get your 5 stone?

BEG, I have a size 2.5 finger, and .15 stones give me full finger coverage in a five-stone ring. Maybe .20-.25 would be the right size for you?

In the hypothetical future, I'll probably go with .20 or .25 stones. After trying on 8 million and 4, of course.

ETA: When I said uncomfortable, what I meant was that I worry the stones will overhang the top of my finger, and rub the adjoining fingers. Which would drive me up the wall.

I may just get a 3 stone.

Safer that way.

Hey Kittybean! Wow you have TINY fingers! Hmm...in that case, I think you may be right about going .20-.25. I did try on a 5 stone at Tiffanys a while back but I have no idea what the stone sizes were (although I remember it was blingy and I loved it

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah I wouldn''t want any overhang and discomfort either.

Of course, if you get the 3 stone, you cold go even blingier, without the discomfort issue, and that''s a definite plus....
