The current radar shows heavy rain from upper Michigan back to almost Colorado! It's been pouring here all day(Chicago) and its not gonna stop till at least Friday. At least my plants shouldn't die of drought this year!

Do you have to go out in it, or can you stay home? I think it's very cosy indoors when it rains outside, as long as you don't have to get wet.

AprilBaby - how's your knee? Can you make it out in this monsoon to join us for the get together on Saturday? Fingers crossed.

They are replacing the sidewalk in front of our house which means its currently a giant mud pit! Very happy boys. Very messy house.

We're in it too-we need it sooo badly.

We've had constant snow since Sunday night in Wyoming. If that storm is coming your way it is slow moving and very moist! Stay safe.

My knee is fabulous! Thanks for remembering! I went back to work yesterday after 3 months off and unfortunately I work this Sat. Too bad because today I ordered a WF 2.3 ctw eternity ring for my birthday! It won't be ready for two weeks but next time around I will try to come and bring it along.

Ok we're gonna need another GTG pronto because I HAVE to see that ring in person!!! Glad to hear you're back at work. We'll miss you tomorrow!

Yea were getting craziness as usual. Rippers tonight and tomorrow. Then a massive temp drop for Fri.

April I am glad your knee is doing well.

Wa- HUT???? It's gonna be crappy for my Chicago visit?..... Oh no no NO,! Not allowed! Rain rain go away and come again another day.... Bummer!

Thank you so much! It was a long HARD process.

I had to run errands today in the storms. Lost power at my house for a while too. I know we need it for the crops to do well and stop the rising food prices. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse weather wise. Soon summer will come and we'll have plenty of sunshine :sun:

Glad your knee is better April. Sorry you can't attend Saturday. I hope we can plan several GTG's with us Chicago area Psers. Would love to meet you!

It was a monsoon when I left work today and got soaked, despite my umbrella :x DH and I went to the Black Crowes show tonight and luckily, the rain slowed down. But, yea, I'm really tired of these April showers. I'm ready for May flowers, dammit!

I am sure it was. I've had both knees operated on - it was not fun. I know you worked hard to get better. :wavey:

We gotta have these April showers! I'm happy for them, although they throw a wrench into things. My ankle I broke in 2000 that has metal stuff in it is not happy, and now that I'm in my 30's my joints aren't happy either, but my garden will be!

After our drought last spring/summer here in the Midwest, I am ecstatic to be having this much precipitation. Sorry to those of you who are suffering, though. I know how annoying it is. :((

I have to smile a little bit at these posts. LOL
I live near Portland, Oregon and we traditionally have rain for 8 or more months of the year. Last March (2012) it rained every single day! This year we have had the driest spring in recent history. We have even had blue sky peeking out a little most days. Not ALL day... but even a little is more than usual at this time of year.
So it is actually refreshing for me to hear others complaining about the rain! Welcome to my world!! Usually we get about 6 good weeks of sunshine in the summer (starting July 5th, LOL) and relentless gray skies and rain from mid-October through June.

I'm sorry you guys are having a tough time. I can sympathise... really!! But I'm certainly not complaining about our unusually dry spell!!

So far, according to our airline, flights are running but delayed into ohare. Not a good flyer at the best of times so watching the weather channel....I'm scared about what we are flying into!! Im guessing the river tour and hop on tours may not be on our agenda...

Stay safe Chicagoans and im looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

I'm so bummed you're going to have crappy weather for your trip!

The Art Institute is a wonderful place to spend a rainy afternoon. And if the skies clear you can pop over to Millennium Park, my favorite place in Chicago.

It's been snowing here since about 1100, we have about 2 inches accumulation so far, I am so glad I do not have to work tonight so I can sit and stare out the window and pretend it is december...... :nono:

Welli am in grand rapids, Michigan. We have had heavy downpours for at least a week maybe two. Our river is scheduled to crest at 25 feet I do believe and or levees are 26. Its already flooding roads I'm not sure how I'll make it home from work. Its not a state of emergency but they think come Saturday the floods will reach our water treatment so I'd bet its coming. They are bringing it up on the news a lot. If the river crests at what they think its record setting. Not just drizzles here :|

I've never actually seen it this bad before.

This was this morning in my neighborhood, two blocks down from my house. The street was not flooded on my block, but my backyard was completely under water.

We had 6 inches of rain overnight and today my basement is flooded. Unfortunately I have carpet which is soaked. My office closed as did almost the entire town so I spent my day off suctioning water out of the carpet. Someone remind me why we finish basements???? This is my third "hundred Year flood" since 1996.

I'm sorry about your basement. How much water did you get - and was it from the sewer as well? Our basement is not finished, and we got a little seepage from some cracks in the floors and the windows. When we bought the house, we had overhead sewers put in and that made all the difference. All in all, I think we made out pretty lucky. A couple puddles to mop up. A neighbor the next block over had 3 feet in his basement. I'm hesitant to finish the basement - I want to, but it seems you fix one area of seepage, then another pops up.

LaJenn-are you near the HIP by any chance? The picture you posted looks like my parents neighborhood. They are walkng distance to the mall. Unfortunately they got a lot of water as well.

I'm west of O'hare and got 6" of water in my crawlspace, nothing damaged this time. In the big flood a couple of years ago all of my Christmas decorations were ruined and had to be thrown out. Lots of keepsakes :(sad

EDited to add: how does everyone like the inch of snow on their cars this morning? Where is spring?

I'm in Naperville. I got about an inch in the basement. No sewer. A friend of my son in Lombard had a full basement and six inches on the first floor. I didn't see snow on the car this morning?

Hi Ladies!

I am also in Chicago and the rain was horrible. I spent all night up with my SO lifting buckets of water out of our basement and taking them out to the street, while using a sunk pump too... the water was coming in faster than we were taking it down. :(sad

Our backyard also flooded... including a nest of baby bunnies that momma bunny built about 2 weeks ago. I started crying when my SO woke me up at 3am (I had fell asleep at 1am) to tell me the rain got worse and the backyard started to flood (in addition to the basement :knockout: ). We both put on gloves and ran to the bunny nest, the poor babies were drenched and huddled together nearly drowning. They managed to crawl out of their little bunny hole in the ground when the water started rising... thank God!

We picked them up one by one and put them in a warm beanie hat, in a box... and placed them in a safe area in our dry garage. 24 hours later when the sun came out, I dried out the bunny hole with towels and rebuilt the nest... and put them back! I am happy to report that momma bunny came back and started feeding them again. She didn't even notice they were missing for 24 hours!

And what story could be complete... without pics! The bunnies look bigger in the photos than in real life. They were honestly smaller than the size of a medium pear in real life.

April- Maybe the snow came in from east? It covered our grass as well. Had to brush off the cars before going out today.

maple-So sweet that you saved the bunnies!

Hi Woofmama. I'm in Park Ridge. The photo was taken near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Greenwood. The water receded here pretty quickly, so we were lucky. Also, in my neighborhood, those homes that don't have overhead sewers or a working flood control/check valve got significant sewer back up (anywhere from a few inches to several feet). We only had some puddles - seepage from the old basement windows, and some cracks in the basement floor.

Maple - yay, for baby bunnies! I like to name all the animals I have contact with. However, there are so many bunnies in my neighborhood that I call them all Trixie.
