radiant table and depth - questoin for professionals

i am about to purchase a radiant where the table is 61% and the depth is 68%. Is this something to be majorly concerned with?

Looking at the AGA charts the only thing with the diamond out of the 1A range is the depth. however ive been told that a high depth and low table make for a firey stone. I''m also working with WF and they said it was really nice.

It seems very hard to find a 1A or 1B graded radiant. I typed in the measurments and everything and it came out with 2B. I guess that means it is pretty well cut. have any of you seen table/depth %''s like this or have any thoughts?

I don''t know the answer to your question, but obviously you want a fiery diamond. To be perfectly honest with you, a well-cut round diamond will likely be much more fiery than a radiant under any conditions. I have an ACA round from Whiteflash and a well-cut radiant stone, and by far the ACA is more fiery under every type of lighting. So, unless you''re buying a radiant because you like the shape of them, a round is the way to go for fiery.

I personally would not buy a radiant with a depth higher than 65%, but that is my personal preference. The table on my radiant is lower than the depth, and I don''t know if it makes it more fiery since I haven''t compared it to other radiants under all lighting. In fact, I don''t see much in the way of radiants on people in real life. So, really what it comes down to is whether you feel comfortable buying this stone. If you''re questioning it this much, maybe you should continue the search. Well-cut radiants do pop up, but sometimes you have to be patient.

Hey Coda, whats happening? ive been freaking out.

yeah she said it had a lot more life than the one that faced up larger that you had recommended. she said they''re both really nice. i was just worried the table might be too small for the depth or something or its too deep, it got a 2B grade on that chart.

would you mind looking at my other post with the pics and everything? im really close to buying but at the same time not wanting to rush it and get the right stone. i found another one with very desirable table/depth percentages, however its not quite as square and less carat.

If you don''t feel comfortable with numbers that do not fall into the 1A category (I thought that we were somewhat past that based on your last comments from previous postings)I suggest that you wait until you find a stone that fits right into that category. If you trust WF instead to provide you with a great stone - by all means, go for it. But having followed your multiple threads, I think that you should wait for the "perfect" number combination to pop up. Keeping our fingers crossed!

well its a big purchase man and im nervous about it. radiants are not easy diamonds. did you see thepics in the other thread - what do you think?

Kmick - it seems that you have found a stone that shows a lot of promise on paper/pics and that the WF experts recommend. Buy the stone, look at it and keep it if you think it looks great. If not, you can return it.

Thanks Rob! yeah one of their gemologists is going to analyze it and give me a call in an hour or so to let me know his thoughts but it seems like a good one.

Love you all, but I gotta say something here and am not aiming at anyone in particular...we all make valid points...

...Waiting for the right numbers combo in a vacuum won't necessarily get you th prettier diamond....Big mistake imo to pass up a beauty bc it doesn't fit into some set of numbers that make have been "ideal"....Don't get me wrong, good numbers are important, but a good looking stone at a good value that faces up big is equally important in my book...

Also, I really can't stand it when people say well, if you want fire, go round. I love radiants, princess cuts and cushions more than rounds...and my cushion has SOME fire, put those shades on!!!

Rounds are ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzz LOL....

P.S...I just looked at the stone and it's pretty awesome in my opinion....very impressive with the amount of light leakage....I also love the square shape and that it doesn't have that cracked ice thing that I don't like in most radiants...I also see no bow tie (being square has a lot to do with it)....

I'm sold... Can you get it for me then?

haha, sure. i decided to go with it, seems like the WF people were pretty excited about it and its not even possible at lesat with all the searching ive done to find a 1A/B grade diamond that is a square radiant, at least at the moment....plus i have some kind of budget to work from..... i figure its still pretty well cut and i like the fact it is firey and seems to have decent dimensions for its carat size really.
