I was hoping you could tell me if this is a decent diamond or not - I''m completely lost. I love the way it looks - it''s truly beautiful, but technically speaking - I''m inept and very naive - I don''t want to buy the wrong thing at this price.

I asked for the GIA report and here are the findings -

Shape - Cut-Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant (is this really a radiant?)
Measurements - 7.97 x 6.73 x 4.59
Weight - 2.15 carat
Proportions -
depth - 68.2%
Table - 70%
Girdle - SLIGHTLY THICK TO THICK
Culet - NONE
Finish -
Polish - GOOD
Symmetry - GOOD
Clarity Grade - VS2
Color Grade - G
Flourescence - NONE
Diamond was originally priced for $21k, but I negotiated it down to less than $17k. Even so, is this a good diamond, or should I keep on looking?

PLEASE HELP!!!

A cut corner rectangular modified brilliant is a radiant. GIA doesn''t use common names for diamonds. This stone seems a bit deep to me. Radiants should have a depth of 65% or less. If it''s over this, it will start to look small for its carat weight. The thick girdle on this one will make it appear even smaller. The price doesn''t seem too high, but if it''s not a well-cut stone, then the price is high. If I were you, I would look for another stone. Try a pricescope search, and you will find many stones. Here''s one for example that looks good. I''m not sure if you''re set on one that''s over two carats, but this one is just over two carats.
