I''m looking for a radiant stone with a length to width ratio of about 1.3, but what depth should I be looking for to give the stone the best brilliance????

I''m currently in NY and am looking to get a stone for an engagement ring in the next 2 weeks, if anyone cn recommend a trustworthy jeweller as well I''d really aprreciate, people have warned me about 47th street!!! Thanks Again

I just purchased from James Allen.com

The experience was great. No hassels, delivery was extremly fast(mounted) and price was very good.

Excellent stone

oh and I have walked down 47th, and not a chance unless I was an expert in diamonds and bargaining. I'd waste so much time going from store to store. Why not crack a few cold ones and shop from the comfort of my home office.

I would keep the depth from 60-65% to get the largest size stone for the money, but then I''m a stickler for the numbers.

Thanks for your help

Hi Toon,
I agree that going door to door on 47th street is not productive- and can be perilous.

I find that trying to buy "by the numbers" is not great either.
For example, sometimes a radiant with 69% depth can actaully appear larger than one with the same weight, and 64% depth.

if you are going to work online, try to find a seller that can provide good digital images- that will tell you a lot more than numbers
