I''ve gotten a little more info on a .72ct vs2 f radiant diamond from whiteflash, but i have a few more question.....especially since I would like to have them obtain it in house ASAP if it looks to be decent quality.

1st) On the GIA report clarity characteristics are listed as feather, crystal......I assume these shouldn''t be too bad with VS2 correct?

2nd) Whiteflash says "The vendor said the stone has a minimal bowtie and is very brilliant." What the heck is bowtie and should I be concerned enough not to have them bring it in?

3rd) It measures 6.53x4.43x2.94.......very rectangular, which I like.....but are there any problems/concerns I should be aware of with such a high ratio.

If anybody is willing to offer a bit of advice I''d be more than greatful.....I would love to call whiteflash back today to get the ball rolling so that i can have the ring in hand soon

This is best I could find as far as a pic of a bowtie in a radiant. Note the appearance of the 'black band' area across the stone. This is a bowtie. The more minimal, the less distracting from the stone. So if the bowtie is minimal, that's better. It's almost impossible to have it be nonexistent in asymetrically shaped stones.

ETA: And no, I wouldn't be too worried about those inclusions in a VS2.

very informative!! thank you for the picture....that eases my concerns a little....of course i would ask for pics to evaluate the bowtie from whiteflash should i have them bring it "in house"

I have square radiants and they do not display any bowtie effect.

Some people find the look of bowties bothersome (myself included). Some just see them as part of the downside of a particular cut (such as in ovals and marquis to name just two). If you like a cut that tends to have a bowtie effect then do the best you can to find a diamond with as minimal a bowtie as possible.

That being said, evaluation is totally dependent on your personal taste and what is pleasing to your eye. So look at the diamond (or second best, get pictures) in as many different lighting conditons as possible so you can see how noticable the bowtie is AND how much it does or does not bother you.

I believe most diamonds are beautiful. They have their own personality and characteristics that make each one unique. It is the feeling you get when you look at it that tells you if it's "the one" for you. No piece of paper or diamond certification can make (or break) the beauty that you see with YOUR eyes. Especially with fancy shape diamonds. Your EYES should have the final say. Trust what you see.

Good luck!

ETA: When Whiteflash gets the diamond in, ask them for their opinion. I would definitely trust their expert advice!
