I’m trying to do a beginners quilt and I want to buy 5in squares in a color of my choosing. I’ve done a bit of quilting in the past and I seem to always f’ up the cutting and I don’t want to bother. I want 5” squares.
I see I can buy charm packs. This creates its own set of problems as they come in sets of 42. This is just barely less than I need so I I’m going to have a buttload of extra buying 2 of each color I need.
also charm packs are like, as the name suggests, random. I want one color. Yes solid ones are out there but....
Is there some place that will cut to order? Some Etsy shop? Does this exist in the world? If not, do you have suggestions for a variety of all single color solid charm packs?

thanks all

I wish you lived near me
I love the cutting out but not the sewing up
How big is your beginners quilt ?

I would be more than happy to pay you for cutting and shipping and fabric 100% lol

i am doing a throw size 72x72 5 colors

There are quilter’s guilds in most cities. I’m sure that if you contact a group, someone would be happy to cut the squares for you for not too much. Or, you could buy a rotary cutter, cutting mat, and acrylic cutting guide, and cut your own. Rotary cutters revolutionized quilting about 40-50 years ago, and they’re not that hard to use.

But seriously, contact a local quilt shop or quilt guild.

Haha, I also like the cutting part the best! I am working on a queen-sized quilt of 3" squares, it is so many little squares.

Experimenting with a rotary cutter + mat + clear ruler and/or contacting a quilt shop seems like a great way to find someone locally like @Daisys and Diamonds and me that would happily do your cutting for you.

I’m not 40-50 years old. Even with the rotary cutters I hate doing it.

So many people love the cutting part of quilting! Ugh! I'm not a fan of it at all!!! I also don't cut straight, so I avoid it. This is a HUGE reason for me to do English Paper Piecing. It's all by hand, but the seams are pretty much marked for me and it's challenging to screw them up. ;) I'll have to remember this thread if I ever cut a bunch of squares for a quilt! :D

Try here

Oh wait, forgot about these guys

*edit* they have soloid charm packs.

In general though most of the time the squares are pinked. if you don't care and just want them cut it is a time saver for you.

What type of foot are you using?

Honestly just buy charm packs like @marymm poster, less expensive and time consuming than buying fabric and coordinating with someone to cut it for you.

Edit: For future projects you can search for “pre-cuts” of all dimensions and patterns that make use of pre-cuts, since you know you don’t like that part of the process. Best of luck!

I have specifically searched for precuts without success. Please show me examples you have found with the criteria I am after.

Or, just find a local quilter group and ask them to put an ad in their newsletter for you.

I’m not going to but a fabric cutter and a million little items for the amount of quilting I’m planning to do.

as My post states- I don’t want to cut. I don’t really care how easy modern technology has made it if I spend money lol

Sorry, perhaps I’m misunderstanding your criteria. You want a pack of 5” squares in all one color, yes? Did you see the page @marymm posted? It links to charm packs of all one color, variety of color options.
