Hello all,

So I just bought an engagement ring to my soon to be (hopefully) fiance. I went with a quad invisible set princess cut ring with channel set diamonds along the band. Now I have read some of the horror stories that go along with the invisible set rings, but my girl really seemed to fall in love with this one and the jeweler assured me that the lifetime guarantee would take care of any issues that ever came up. Also, the ring is being ordered in her exact size so there will be no sizing, which I feel should help the reliability significantly? I really hope this is the case as I don't want this thing to turn into a nightmare for the two of us.

My main question though is that say down the road a few years when the budget allows, could I upgrade this to a single princess cut diamond? I meant to ask the jeweler while I was there but forgot. Thanks in advance for the help.

Congrats on your purchase. I don't know the answer but I assume it depends on the exact setting and also your jeweler's policies. Sorry for not being very helpful.

Two things: Women's ring sizes can change. Especially if you plan on having kids. So upgrading may be something you want to consider as an alternative to sizing.

But some women are incredibly sentimental with their original engagement rings. I suggest you just enjoy your current purchase and if the opportunity comes up later on to upgrade, you make the decision (one way or another) together since it is for both of you. She may want a single center stone. Or she may still be in love with this ring and never want to replace it. Ultimately, she's going to be the best person to judge what the 'right' thing is to do. There's no 'black and white' right answer, whatever the both of you decide down the road is the right thing to do, for you.

Congratulations on your engagement! :wavey:

As others have said, you need to check with the jeweler about trade-in policies and preferably get it in writing if they do.
