Hello All,

I've been looking at a few loose diamonds on price scope through the search program. When click on the diamond it brings you to the website with the specs. All the website states a various cut grade but when clicking on the CERT it self there is no CUT grade shown. Do these companies calculate the dimension and decide on a cut grade them self?

Thanks

Please post an example, I am not really following your description.

sorry for the confusion : )

OK, different vendors label diamonds as "ideal" "good" or whatever. Those labels are essentially meaningless. All that really matters is the cut grade on the lab report.

EGL is not a very reputable lab, try a search and see many discussions. I don't know much about the different types of certs they offer, but looks like some do not have a cut grade. That does not matter much to me as I would not buy an EGL stone ;)) but you can usethe HCA link under tools and enter the proportions on the report to get an idea of the cut (look for a score under 2). I can tell you on that stone it is not good.

I suggest looking for GIA Ex cut grade or AGS 0 cut grade stones only.

I agree with Dreamer about this particular stone. Also wanted to mention that most fancy cut stones will not have a cut grade. If your shopping for RB exclusively than you will have a much easier time finding an ideal cut stone.

HCA will be a great tool in narrowing down your selection, as will ASET.
