I didn''t know where to post this ... but I have this wood-topped side table where the surface has really really dry spots. It''s a casual table that I only use in my office so I''m not super into refinishing it "properly"

Is there any "quick fix" I could use to make it seem less dry? I used Murphy''s Oil Soap today but it back to dry looking areas. Could I use olive oil or something? Probably a stupid thought ... any ideas?

I really, really don''t want to sand & refinish!!!!

DUCT TAPE... it fixes everything!! I''m totally joking, but couldn''t resist. Olive oil might actually work. Other than that I haven''t got a clue.

don't use olive oil, it could go rancid. try mineral oil or tung oil.

eta: even better, lemon oil... it smells good!

Are the spots discolored in comparison to the wood around them? If so you could use a stain stick in the color of the rest of the piece. Maybe that would make the spots less noticeable. And then use some Pledge over the whole thing.

I would use Restore-A-Finish, if there is enough of the old finish on it.

or

Watco which is a good oil.

or

Orange oil, which won''t last as long as the others.
