Hi! Solange, your 4+ is absolutely beautiful

. I know it is an I with fluoro - do you recall how much? Faint? Slight? Moderate? I was wondering just how much fluoro it takes to make it face up G/H. Also are there any lighting situations at all that you feel you detect yellow in it? I know stones can look different in different lighting situations. I''m not looking at 4+, but like that color/fluoro combo!

Anyone else with an I/fluoro that you love and faces up a good G/H? How much fluoro does yours have?

Thanks!

F&I has a 3c I with med blue fluor, she has often said she''d never buy another stone without fluor in it.

It''s been said that slight fluor doesn''t really do much in order to make the diamond face up any whiter, I think you need more like medium fluor to really get any sort of benefit. Strong fluor would be great but just make sure it doesn''t make the diamond look milky.

I''d LOVE to get a future J with med blue fluor..my current J has slight blue which I love but I don''t know if it actually DOES anything.

Lastly, I don''t know that an I with med or strong blue would necessarily make it ''face up like a G/H''...it may make it look a little brighter or whiter but not sure it''s an entire color grade and I would venture to say it''s not going to be making it face up two color grades higher. Maybe you could get it to look more like a H but G seems doubtful.

i don''t know that it causes my stone to face up any whiter, but it is just so, soooo.....uh, dang interesting!

here is mine, i do not have a lab report. sorry for the burry photo, I was trying to juggle the black light and the camera at the same time.

Yes, I do have a 3c I w/ medium (appraiser said closer to strong) blue - key word BLUE. Blue is the most common fluor color - but yah gotta check.

Like Mara said, I wouldn''t buy a stone w/o blue fluor. It makes the stone looked more "plugged in".

I did view other 3 c I''s (with fine makes) and did see more color warmth than mine w/ the fluor.

What size are you looking at? The key is how "white" will it look to your eyes.

you can read about the possible effect of fluorescence here http://www.gia.edu/pdfs/W97_fluoresce.pdf
as f&i noted, we are talking about blue fluor. when the fluor is blue, it will be stated as such on the grading report.
i have seen different levels of fluor. and can''t say that it makes a stone look a grade different (or similar), it just has a different look. also keep in mind, you can''t readily detect the effects of fluor. in normal viewing conditions until you get to at least medium blue. if you have an aversion to color, do not count on fluorescence to make the stone look more colorless. it won''t. you are better off focusing on getting a well cut diamond. that is more imporatant than any level of fluor.

Fire and Ice, we are looking in the 3 carat range (haha - I have DSS already! We started at two and a third, and it kept going up! My fingers are pretty long and 3 carats actually does not look too big on my hand, although prior to trying them on I would have thought that was way too big!). I am glad I asked because I thought that the comments on Solange''s thread (when she originally got her ring) meant that the blue fluoro was what made her stone face up at a G/H. The photos of the stones with the blue fluoro are very pretty - you could easily miss it if you don''t know to look for it!

Shpritz, that is so pretty!!! Have you given it to her yet? Is it a surprise for her? All the ones I am seeing photos of are so pretty!

I am giving it to her on Wednesday. She has no idea.

go look at the stones in this thread. i thought lumpkin''s pear showed the flashes of blue that i see when driving really well.

Shpritz, She is going to LOVE it! What a fantastic surprise!

Thanks for the thread Ladykemma!

My ring has just faint flourescence. I think it is the cut more than the flourescence that makes it face up better. Jewelers who have seen the stone and commneted on it guessed it to be a G or H. When he examined the stone before sending it to me, Brian at Whitefalsh seemed to think that the Flourescence was a plus even though it is faint.
In any case, my stone does have a lot of life and the I color does not have any yellow face up.
If you look at the pictures, the stone is set low in a Tiffany setting so the sides do not show much. I guess if there is any yellow tint there, you would not see it. I will be posting better pictures of my ring as soon as my husband gets around to it.
Best of luck.
