Hello all - Questions for anyone with this or a similar five-stone ring (SKYE - whiteflash) - i know there are quite a few b/c it''s so beautiful!

my SO and i have been talking about getting engaged sometime soon.

I must preface this by saying I am not interested in a diamond solitaire or other traditional diamond ring for engagement. I am 31 and it seems the older i get, the less interest i have in a traditional diamond ring. I would like something i can enjoy wearing and is comfortable, so i have opted for a band ring instead.

I am not sure between a five stone and an eternity band - i am in contact with someone from Whiteflash about the Skye band- i tend to really drool over your ring a lot on this forum! I have read up on the pros and cons, but i have some questions about it.

First, i wear a size 7 - 7.5 (summer vs winter) and i know that while this ring looks beautiful on your little finger, i wonder if it will look as good on me, or even spand the whole finger across. Thoughts? i am in the process of getting a quote for a seven stone from WF, in the event that the five stone doesn''t look right.

Secondly, i love the profile view and i think it is one of the best assets of the ring...having said that, can you put anything next to it? Does it scratch and ruin the other ring next to it and the effect of the side view? What kind of wedding ring do yout think might look good next to it if any? Is it suitable for stacking around it at all? i was thinking something flat and low profile...

Thank you everyone in advance for your time in helping me out!

Violet, you should take a look at this thread by KtIceRn.....https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-domed-micropave-band.91306/

She has the same 5-stone ring (in fact, it was modified to sit even a bit lower than the stock version.)

Hers is a size 7.25, and in that thread, there are several pictures of it on her finger flanked by two domed micropave bands.

There''s also a somewhat profile shot.....and keep in mind that hers are set a bit lower than the stock piece, so you''d likely see more of the profile design in the regularly made piece.

Hope this helps.

Hi Violet-
I also have the same 5 stone size 7.5 link
The only difference is mine has half carat stones.
I wear it with my wedding band which has pave on 1 side, the pave faces me. The 5 stone doesn't scratch it. You could easily get away with smaller stones. I'm thinking .35-.40 to get top coverage.

A seven stone for .30's is also a good idea and will totally cover the top.

Good luck. Can't wait to see how it turns out

violet, I had a similar feeling to you, I didn't want a traditional engagement ring, so I wear a 5 stone band as my wedding ring, it's the only ring I wear on my left hand. I'm not sure of my exact ring size, probably around 7-7.5. My band is 1 ctw, although the stones are slightly graduated. From the top of my finger you can see a small amount of band at the sides, but not much 1-2 mm. It doesn't rub against my other fingers and is very comfortable to wear all day every day, I even wear it skiing and scuba diving.

If you want just enough finger coverage without going too big and bulky I think a 5 stone of 30 points would be perfect, it will cover your finger without 'hanging over' the sides.

Mine is an antique btw, if I had had it custom made I might have gone a little bigger, but this is the one I fell in love with.

kcourselle's is the perfect size in my opinion, although she has a smaller finger, it hangs over a little on the sides, it will fit more exactly on your finger.

Good luck, I can't wait to see pictures of whatever you decide to do.

Gorgeous rings ladies.
WOW..how am I gonna be able to sleep tonight..knowing tomorrow I will be wearing my very own 5 stone diamond band...I can hardly wait!!

Hi Violet3, I''m'' flattered you like my ring! It looks like Allison D took care of most of your questions, but let me know if you have any others. I''ve worn things next to this band before, but only if they are low to my finger. The base of the ring has metal whereas towards the top the girdles stick out and scratch something if it were a tall ring. I think this ring would look great on a size 7 ring and will be an awesome stand alone ring!

I knew i could count on you guys for great info - thank you!

I just got home from work, and i am so thankful for all the responses! Thank you to kcoursolle, Allison D., Elle Chris, Mish B, and beau13!!! You all have no idea how helpful the links and information you gave me will be. I really appreciate it!

Allison D., thank you so much for helping me with my questions! i love that link to KtIceRn''s ring - the trellis setting is so beautiful and really helps to see one on a hand of my size :)

Elle Chris - Oh my goodness! your ring is incredible....really. It is so beautiful on you. Do you find you wear it alone or with that pretty band most of the time?

Beau 13 - i have been following your Ebay find and i can''t wait to see your hand pics with you ering and the profile!

Mish B - i would love to see pics of your beautiful antique - sounds exceptional!

Kcoursolle - your ring is so pretty....really it is. i sent it to my sister and she loved the profile too! i am so glad they made it a stock setting, because it is truly lovely. thank you for taking the time to respond to me and for the beautiful inspiration.

Will let you all know what i decide (or perhaps i should say what WE decide) :)

Just thinking aloud here... I''ve been tempted to get some stacking rings lately, but had never thought of combining them with my 5 stone, until I saw KTiceRN''s photos of her two domed bands with the 5 stone. That looks so amazing that I think I may have to investigate it further. Also, I have a filigree pave RH ring that would look good with the stackers too.

I saw ktIceRn 5 stone ring with the staked rings, so gorgeous....
Does anybody know the total ct of KtIceRn 5 stone ring?

I don''t know the tcw on Kt''s ring, but it seems that most of them on here are around 1.5 to 2.5 tcw. The stones in kcoursolle''s ring are roungly .3 to .35 as are those on the whiteflash website.

The others i have seen (Demz''s ) trellis ring are more like 2.5 i believe and are .5 per stone. This one seems to fall somewhere in that range, but not sure where. Because her finger is a bit larger than kcoursolle''s (i think her finger size is around 7) I would guess they are a little bigger than .3 per diamond. Maybe she''ll chime in!

It does look incredible with those two micropave rings flanking it though!

Anne, they are 30/31-pointers, so 1.50 total.
