Questions for Halo Owners, Re: Metal content?

Garysax's post about 14k gold reactions has gotten me thinking....

I am hoping to get a WF custom halo ring designed for my cushion. I had always imagined that it would be platinum and never thought any more about it. But after reading Garysax's thread, I was thinking about it and I went to the WF website and I noticed that their "pre-made" halo rings seem to only be available in 14k wg. So here are the questions for halo owners:

-- What metal is your halo/ring made of?
-- Where did you get it?
-- Was it custom?
-- Was there a reason why you went with that particular metal?
-- Have you had any problems? or Would you change if you could?
-- Any other thoughts or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

I guess I am mostly curious if there are actually many 14k WG halo rings out there and how people like them. I am also wondering if there could be any relation between metal and pave problems/stones falling out?

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I even tried to go back and look at some induviduals' ring threads...not many actually mention the metal content of their rings.

I think Shay has a platinum Whiteflash halo ... her original Halo was a "test case" I think. Pretty sure they do platinum halos now ...

I had a platinum ring before and didn''t love the patina it develops after a few years
No problems, no loose stones

I thought of another question I should have asked...

For those with custom rings, did the designer/jeweler advise you to go one way or the other? If so, what were his/her reasons?

I have a halo that was custom made at WF and it is WG. I picked WG because my old platinum setting didn''t wear well at all. Very dull and scuffed. I really hated it.

Atroop: Is it 14k or 18k? Have you had any problems or had to have it dipped/replated yet? Thanks for the help!

-- Was it custom? partially custon - it was originally a prong setting and hte custom made the bezel.
-- Was there a reason why you went with that particular metal? I don''t like the patina that platinum gets after awhile.
-- Have you had any problems? or Would you change if you could? I would no t change it for the world!
-- Any other thoughts or advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated! One tihng that I do notice is that the bezel itself gets a dull yellow, so i have the ring re-dipped in white gold 1x a year.
