Do you wear the five-stone ring by itself or with other rings (on the same finger)? If both, then please comment on the approximate %frequency of each case.

For those 5-stone rings with exposed girdles (i.e., not bezeled ring), do you wear a spacer ring to protect your other rings?

What size stones are in your five-stone ring? Please take the poll.

If possible, please show a photo of your 5-stone ring on your finger, with or without other rings.

I give up. Can''t do poll correctly. Last poll choice is for diamonds larger than 1.75 cttw (over 0.35 ct each).

my 5 stone is 2.59tcw. I wear it with my wedding band and I don''t wear a spacer between the two. I don''t wear it on it''s own for now, but am making it into a right hand eternity to be worn alone.

elle_chris,
I adore your ring. I remember asking you questions about yours. Your ring looks gorgeous as is. Why make it a right hand ring? Do you plan to wear at least one ring on each hand?

If you make it into an eternity band, will the large size diamonds hurt or feel uncomfortable to wear? Looks like you need at least 7 more diamonds to complete the ring. The final ring will be at least 6-7cttw

!!!!!!
How often do you plan to clean your new eternity ring?

Thanks to yor inspiration, I am thinking about have a 5-stone ring made with 0.4 ct diamonds each. Would love to have larger size diamonds, but have to limit the stone size due to cost and for the option of wearing the ring with my 3-stone ring (stacked together with a spacer ring). Wonder if it looks too big with my 3-stone ring? If so, maybe I should make mine a right hand ring as well. What do you think?

I have large fingers and can''t pull off wearing my 5 stone and e-ring together. So I can''t imagine what a 3 stone ring with a 5 stone made of up of .40 carats looks like. But i''m pretty sure there''s someone here with a large solitare and and eternity made up of half carats that looks awesome. Of course now I can''t find it.

But yeah, a 3 stone with a spacer, and a large 5 stone.. that''s gonna be HUGE. Do you have a pic of your ring?

The reason I''m turning it into an eternity for my right hand is so I can wear my wedding band alone on my left and have some bling on my right. I''m pretty sure I can get used to it being uncomfortable

My wedding band is plain but very thick with pave on one side and I don''t wear it with my e-ring. They don''t look good together, different depths.

At .40ct, your 5 stone will look very similiar to mine. It''ll be pretty big.

Here is mine, its .75 ct, I do wear it with my e-ring and the gridles are a little exposed, but the bars of gold tend to keep the scratching from being to awful, but it does scratch it.

I wear my 1.51 ct alone. It''s really too big to wear with anything else, and I really wouldn''t want anything to detract from it.

Thank you very much for taking the poll and providing comments. Your responses are very informative and helpful. First, I realize most people prefer 5-stone rings with diamonds smaller than 0.30 ct each. Second, it seems that those who have diamonds larger than 0.30 ct tend to wear the 5-stone ring by itself. These preferences make sense. Together with the feedback from my other thread about distraction from stacking together rings with relatively large stones, I think it is best for me to count on my 5-stone ring as a stand alone ring.

Since that I plan to wear the 5-stone ring more often than the 3-stone ring, and that I prefer to wear on rings on my left hand fingers, I guess I shall not be wearing both 3-stone and 5-stone rings at the same time. Once I size the 5-stone ring as a left hand ring (prefer tight fit), I can''t wear it on my right hand finger.

That''s the case for me too. There''s 3/4 - 7/8 of a size difference between my left hand and right hand, but I like wearing my five stone when I don''t feel like wearing my wedding set. So for me, that''s fine that it only fits my left hand.

Mine is my wedding band so mostly I wear it with my e-ring. I do not wear a spacer even though the gridles are
exposed. I do wear it alone as a wedding band when I'm not in the mood to wear my e-ring. Mine is .81 ctw in
plat and I wear a 6.25. It is the perfect size because the last diamonds match up with the ends of the baguettes
on my ering. If I was to have bought it as a RHR I would have wanted a 1.0 ctw minimum (for my honker 6.25 fingers).
(sorry for the size, I know I still need to shrink these pictures but I'm being lazy)

Yours is another example of PERFECT PROPORTION for a stacked 5-stone/3-stone ring combination. The ensemble looks very becoming and harmonious. I can see how the 5-stone ring enhances the wow factor without detracting the beauty of your 3-stone e-ring. Thanks for sharing. Very helpful.

Thank you for your suggestion (from the other thread) on wearing the 5-stone ring as a RHR. Originally, I would not consider this option because of my large knuckle. Now, after much debate this morning, I may consider RHR as an option and figure out how to solve the spinning problem without the use of beads. Wonder if stacking it with a 2mm band (same size) would help prevent the spinning?

I thought long and hard about the option of having the 5-stone ring as another LHR, and decided against the idea. Why? I would undoubtedly go for my 3-stone ring first, so the 5-stone ring will sit in my jewelry box unloved most of the time. Another reason is that I cannot count on wearing it with my 3-stone ring (stacked together), a combination that sparked my interest of getting a 5-stone ring in the first place. Now, I am considering

1. nix the whole project of 5-stone ring (and save money for a 3.5-4.5 ct solataire diamond ring, someday), or
2. wear the 5-stone ring on my right hand, so I still have the option of wearing it alone and together with my 3-stone ring (one on right hand and the other on left, so both rings will still look beautiful without too much distraction).

I thought diamond purchase was supposed to be fun. Never thought I would have so much trouble.

My 5 stone ring I wear alone. It is 1.65cttw, with each diamond being .33ct. I would like to eventually get 2 pave or bead set bands...one for each side though. I have a size 5 finger so this size band does look large enough by itself.

This crossed my mind when I saw your thread.

If it were me, and maybe one day it will be, I would get a 5-stone ring that was a comfortable size to wear, say with .30 diamonds, so that you can wear it on days when you really *dont* want to wear your beautiful three-stone ring. There are days like that sometimes when it would be nice to still have some bling!

My 5-stone ring has very exposed girdles; just shy of 2 cwt. I wear it either alone on the right hand or flank it with two thin sapphire french cut e-bands on either side that are lower than the girdles of the stones.

Orbaya, as your 5-stone ring and pave bands have diamonds with exposed girdles, do you worry that the diamonds might be in danger of being scratched/damaged/chipped?

The extra bands may solve my problem of a RHR. I am thinking that the extra bands (width of stack) may keep my RHR from spinning. Am I right?

I don''t have the other bands yet, so I can''t answer your question. However, if/when I decide to get bands, I will be very careful about the style and how they sit next to my 5 stone ring.

Alison,

Do you have pictures of your 5 stone with the sapphire bands? I would absolutely LOVE to see them together!

Yes Alison...pics please!!!

Here is mine! The TCW is 2.25, each stone is 0.45 and my finger size is 5.25, so coverage is perfect! I wear it alone, as a RHR, with my wedding band and ER on my left hand...I''m a traditional kinda gal!
