I love this ring and I am doing a custom from WF to re set my 1.04 diamond and have sent them pictures. My question is for my size diamond what size should my shank be? It is wide at the top and tapers down, WF told me 2.5mm but I think this is too small.

Also I really like the engraving but I had also wanted a 3/4 eternity can I have a 3/4 eternity and have engraving or is it too much? Would you rather have diamonds or what you see here?

Also my other question is do you think I should get 18 k white gold or platinum? Also the halo will be round.

It is a Beverley K but that ring does not come in a round halo which is what I want instead of the cushion halo (at least what I have found) and I am leaning towards a 3/4 eternity so this ring is my inspiration.

I think it would be well worth your time to call Pearlman''s and have them call BK and ask them if they''d put a round halo on it and extend the diamonds on the shank. Although I really think you won''t see the diamonds any further down the shank than that. They do customize rings. I''d just want someone who specializes in this style ring to make it if it was me.

So I e-mailed Pearlmens but I think that WF is a lot cheaper just from the price they have listed and its only for white gold.

I'd go with more diamonds rather than the engraving. Unless a vendor truly specializes in engraving, it isn't likely to be incredible- most vendors don't specialize in it, so it is usually mediocre. I haven't seen much engraving by Whiteflash, so I'd say it's not their specialty... therefore, I'd get the pave instead if you want to go with them, because you *know* they can do pave beautifully. Beverly K settings have very, very good engraving (clearly it is one of their specialties), but not quite as nice as some out there (Greenlake Jewelers for example has the best I've seen)... but for the price their stuff is fabulous. If you do decide to go with engraving rather than more pave, I'd go with someone who specializes in engraving, like Beverly K, Greenlake Jewelers etc. (I think BK would probably customize with a round halo if asked.)

Caveat: I'm very picky and anal about engraving, more than most people are.

I think a 2.5mm shank would be lovely with a 1 ct diamond, but I do like skinny shanks- I'd probably go with 2mm if it were me actually.

The metals choice is kinda personal taste vs. budget. I like white gold because the rhodium plating doesn't wear off quickly on me- it takes years, and I kinda like the warmer look it gets after its slightly worn, too. But, some people need it replated ever 6 months even, so it kind of depends on your body chemistry I guess. Platinum has that neat greyish look, which is cool, and it's heavy... it does scratch easy though. Either metal would work fine- plat isn't inherently better just because it's pricier. Do you wear white gold? Does it need rhodium plating often? That might help you decide.

You have to contact Pearlman''s to get the actual price. Tell them you are a PriceScope member, too. It will be lower than the price on the webpage.

Thank you for the info about the engraving that is something I need to consider.

I do have a white gold band and it has yellowed a bit but not drastically. With white gold why would you get 18 as opposed to 14k is one better than the other?

When I get my reply from Pearlman''s I will let them know I am a pricescope member.

Forgot to mention that I also need a new wedding band and I was looking to get them done at the same time so that they match well together.

Yes, 18k white gold is what you'd want for fine jewelry.

I agree about the engraving. The milgrain is another feature that can vary in quality a lot. I just like very fine engraving and milgrain.

I am thinking Pearlmans might be too expensive for me for this ring. Is WF not good enough to do this ring for me? Is there another online jeweler that would be better at making this type of ring? I am also in Canada and our money is tanking so right now I am trying to find the best price.
