Questions about F vs G and suggestions?

F is colorless. G is near colorless. Everyone percieves color differently, and I personally percieve it very easily. To me, the difference between F and G is more noticeable than comparing any other letters at the top end of the scale. (ie. D vs. E and G vs. H). I would prefer to have colorless. Some people may also like the mental aspect of having a "colorless" diamond. And unlike IF (clarity) it may be something you can actually perceive with the unaided eye.

No the difference may not be as noticeble when it is set in the ring, and some will say they don't mind G at all. There really is no right answer, just personal preferences.

Hello :)

Those are three lovely diamonds you have picked out.

I consider myself colour sensitive, but I am also a bit of a size queen(!). So which do I prefer?

There is only 0.1mm in size between the largest and smallest diamond here. Plus, the 1.2ct doesn''t score quiiiiite as well on the HCA, getting a ''Very Good'', rather than ''Excellent'' for Scintillation.

So, in this case, I would opt for the best colour and choose the 1.11ct F SI1 diamond.

Welcome Smither!

These are top notch diamonds you have picked, at this stage of the game we don't need to worry about HCA scores with diamonds of this calibre, so we need to evaluate by other means. The ACA brand are chosen for top performance each and every time, so it depends on your colour preference here I think. I doubt that most people could notice a difference between an F and a G colour especially when set. So as Cleo and MissRocks have said, it depends on whether you would prefer an undisputed F colourless, or perhaps the G ACA - either will be plenty white. Also whether you prefer the pedigree of the ACA or the GOG H&A diamond which is a little larger, but I think whichever you choose, these are very fine diamonds and excellent vendors.

My pick would be however for the ACA G in this case, as the 2 ACA's are so close in size, you would be unlikely to notice any difference between them in that respect.

At G, unless you''re highly color sensitive, you won''t see any color. I gave a G and don''t see anything.

I too would pick the WF G stone. The difference in size between it and the GOG stone is not worth several hundred dollars.

Hmm.....I know its under 40x but I personally don''t want to see any inclusions or possible inclusions so its between #1 or #3.

Did you mention the "eye clean" aspect on the beauts?

So, since I prefer whiter diamonds as a rule, I guess I would go with #1.

Don''t think you can go really wrong either way...

Thanks for all your help and opinion. I''m getting closer now. This is my first time buying something so large from an online retailer so I''m a bit nervous. I''ll be sure to post my results once I''ve selected and purchased from a vendor.

I''m still looking for an independent appraiser but haven''t been able to find one. Anyone know of where I can find a good independent appraiser in Vancouver, BC (Canada).

Thanks.
