ok- so i''ve been doing alot of research for quite some time, and the thing i realize i still am not clear on is the following: if the crown angle, pavilion angle, total depth and table all fall within the parameters for an ideal cut diamond (i have seen in several books ranges for a top of the line round brilliant cut, and this is what i am going by)- and mind you- every angle and percentage is dead on....BUT it is an Si1 (eyeclean)....how much does that really affect the look of the stone? If it was a VS2 i wouldn''t even ask...but i have never considered going down to SI1- and i am wondering if i should be concerned at all, considering everything else about the stone is so ideal. i have a feeling i am not making perfect sense here (sorry)- but maybe the responses i get will make it easier for me to clarify what i am asking....(and i don''t want to get started on a whole Tiffany tangent- but my concern for SI1 all stems from the fact that when i first started learning about diamonds i went to Tiffany, and discovered they will sell nothing lower than a VS2)

Well that is Tiffany. Go someplace like the Jewelry Factory and all you will see is I1 or lower. Are you asking how much the brilliancy will be affected by going down to a SI1? If so the answer is none. As for the overall appearance of the stone, none. It is eye clean. Even if you do see it, Iam sure it is not sticking out like a sore thumb. But it gives you something to reidentify your stone if you take it to the store to get worked on.

thanks! that is exactly what i was hoping to hear.
