I have been considering a shared prong eternity band to go along with my e-ring and have heard and read wonderful things about Memoire. I wandered into a jewelry store today (Bailey, Banks and Biddle) and they were having a sale on everything (in stock merchandise only, 40% plus additional 15%). Long story short they have a Memoire eternity 1ct, size 7 I believe that they say they can size down to a 3.5 and then they will give me the extra stones (probably 5 or more). The price will be around $2,100. I believe the price is good but is the resizing going to be structually ok for the ring?

in all honesty, i'm not sure how they will resize the ring? unless they are going to completely remake it again? I bought a stock size 7, 9 stone channel set ring (not memoire but i had at least some gold wiggle room), and resizing to a slightly less than 4 was a three time nightmare for me, I ended up with a non rounded ring and that was enough for me to know that I better get it right by purchasing an eternity, half eternity the right size the first time (special order if need be). But if memoire can do it, hey you got a deal. Is it their local jeweler that will resize? I'm not sure how that works, and what the warranty will cover if another jeweler does the work?

Thanks D&T though not what I wanted to hear it is what I suspected. I did actually ask the question with regards to the ring being round and he assured that it would be; but, something told me to come home and ask the people that I knew would steer me straight! I didn''t think to question the warranty but I did get the impression that the work would be done on site. At the very least I obviously have more questions for them!

I hope it works out for you though, as I hear their warranty is fantastic, but I gave up getting my ring perfect after the third time, and by then the jeweler was a bit annoyed at me that I keep coming back - I wouldn''t have if it was how it should have looked the first time. Was it the Sales person you talked with or the actual jeweler that would have done the work? I know with other companies if it has a warranty and someone else works on it, all warranty becomes void. Do come back and post pictures once you get it all settle

Yes it was the salesman. That is why I''m so skeptical. I have a call into him now with my additional questions. I did go to the memoire site and check out their warranty and the ring is only covered if Memoire sets the stones. It doesn''t even mention an authorized dealer! I''ll let you know as soon as I hear. Maybe there is someone else out there that would like a great deal on a size 7!

I'd say a big NO. And honestly BBB's prices are usually jacked up so high that I don't know how much of a deal you are getting anyway. Have you priced it out at Pearlman's Jewelers? They usually have very good prices on memoire.

And there is no way in h*ll they can size down a 7 to a 3.5 without ruining the integrity of the ring.

Neatfreak - I know you are right. Explains why I ran home to ask the experts. I''ll call Pearlmans on Monday to get a quote. On their site it looks to be the $4,500 range. The 7 at BBB is $2,100. Probably a case of if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Make sure to tell Pearlman''s the price at BBB. Also make sure you are comparing apples to apples about carat weights, etc.

But yeah-unfortunately there is just no way to do that correctly without remaking the ring and then you might as well go custom anyway!
